You ever get the urge to just, rage make a thing?
I still need to clean off the pen marks, but here is my chaotic "Gendering Teddy" embroidery/painting thing.
Also I for some reason, have a metric ton of heart-shaped letter beads, so I tossed some of those in for good measure.
The world is a mess right now. Shit is scary.
So reminder:

after seeing @narcissistcookbook in Boston (and also partially to help convince my husband to get his first tattoo) I started on this flash sheet of some of my favorite songs!
Drew another silly thing… been wanting to draw something relating to Gendering Teddy for a while now, especially since seeing Teddy live and in the flesh fur!
This idea popped into my head earlier so it was a really quick sketch, but I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out! I thought it would be fun to draw Teddy as a Babylonian, and I’ve been having a lot of fun with hand-lettering lately so, here ya go!

first @bughuntermusic / @narcissistcookbook show, they were so kind and they have such a stage presence,,, probably now my favorite concert experience

On the one hand ‘gendering teddy’ is 9 minutes long and the last time I made a 9 min animatic it took my 3 months, on the other hand ‘pruning shears’ would probably be a lot less abstract in places and needs properly detailed backgrounds (by animatic standards)
I have a lot of ideas for both and plan to do whichever I pick as very much a personal interpretation of the song itself so I’m not bringing any other fandoms into it or anything
Today I had the honour of performing @narcissistcookbook 's Gendering Teddy with a friend, at a gathering celebrating the transition of a friend of ours. This song/essay/spoken word masterpiece that has held a lot of meaning for me in my gender journey, and it continues to encapsulate so much of my feelings around trans/nonbinary self-expression. It felt so good to share the emotions in that piece - the loneliness of trying to explain a concept without the right words, the indignation and rage at those who refuse to accept progress, the hope for a future beyond our wildest dreams.
It was a lovely night of trans+ joy, and I'm so glad I was able to share this piece.
