Pre-serum Steve, who is a little minx and can get away with wearing pretty dresses and wigs in public with make up, because everyone thinks he’s just a cute girl.
Post-serum Bucky who was kidnapped by HYDRA and given a metal arm, but they couldn’t keep him long enough to brainwash him, because he just wanted to get back to America to his sweet boy waiting for him there.
Pre-serum Steve helping post-serum Bucky get used to having a metal arm by making them the cutest power couple out there so people look at them instead of the arm.
Pre-serum Steve who likes holding Bucky’s metal hand and giving him kisses on the cheek, and smirks like the devil when people tell them that they look so sweet together and they should get married and have babies, (Because straight people say the dumbest shit, I swear) and Steve saying he would love to have Bucky’s baby but he’d look horrible in pretty dresses after that.
Bucky, stuttering and red faced telling them that he’d love the way Steve looked no matter what, pregnant or not, and nearly brains himself on the fucking table because him and Steve are the only ones that realize it’s not possible.
Pre-serum Steve loving the way it constantly gets Bucky flustered and cute when he says stuff like that.
Post-serum Steve who’s no longer small enough to wear his favorite dresses, who is upset that his face is more full and hard than before, he has to relearn how to do make up entirely, and no matter how good he looks in dresses (and he thinks he looks hella fine) he doesn’t pass anymore and it makes him feel odd and squirmy when people no longer tell him and Bucky how cute they are, but give them dirty looks and whisper to each other how gross they are, a couple of queers who are gross, one of them’s disabled and the other one thinks he’s a girl.
Post-serum Steve barely being able to stand people seeing him, not as a cute girl, not as Captain America, and not as Steve Rogers, the skinny little kid who watches his neighbors house when they’re out of town, and does amazing caricatures in the park, despite being colour blind, but as a scar on America that needs to be removed.
Post-serum Steve and Bucky meeting the Avengers, who are just as queer and broken as they are, and agree with Steve, that yes, he still looks hella fine in dresses, and they don’t see him as any less for knowing that it’s Captain America wearing them.
Post-serum Steve and Bucky being happy with their new found family.
