I’ve been on the hunt for this Gene & Debbe album ‘Here & Now’ after hearing their 1968 single PLAYBOY a few years back on DJ Sheila B’s WFMU radio show Sophisticated Boom Boom. Gene & Debbie (who were married at the time) only put out this one LP back in 1968 and PLAYBOY went gold. The album as a whole is absolutely beautiful and haunting. It’s pop/countryrock. Think Nancy & Lee meets Nino Tempo & April Stevens. The album and songs are mysterious and their vocals blend so well together. I can’t say enough good things about out this one. Every song here should have been a hit. Happy it’s finally in my collection. ✨
