Dear Starbucks Patrons,

To the woman whose order I took today:

You asked for a grande coffee with exactly a tablespoon's worth of non-fat milk. We do not have tablespoons at our location. Perhaps there are some that provide silverware that do, but we do not and we don't. Getting irate, you said that that was the only way you could drink it.

That's not our problem.

You pointed out the plastic spoons behind me that we give out with yogurt and oatmeal. I pointed out those were teaspoons, but I offered to get you non-fat milk on the side in a short cup with one of said plastic teaspoons. You accepted.

When I gave it to you, you started putting the milk in your coffee in front of the register. I informed you that Starbucks didn't want you doing that because of Covid. You said you were done. I said okay, just so you know for next time. You said you wouldn't be back again.

Couple things:

1.) Thank God.

2.) I'm not sure I can trust this is the case anyway, as I remembered after you left that you'd made the same request of a coworker, no less rudely or irritatedly, and you still came back.

3.) This is still something worth knowing when patronizing other locations. (As somehow I doubt this interaction is going to cause you to forsake Starbucks altogether.)

Dear Starbucks Patrons,

This is for the customers who ask for "A grande in a venti." and then get aggitated when I ask "A grande in a venti what?"

A grande in a venti is not an order, it's a stipulation of size. If you are in a hurry and looking for some quick caffeine before work I certainly sympathize, but if you don't tell us what the grande drink in the venti cup is, we cannot help you. And it takes you barely a second more to do that.

If you order a drink with nine sugars or more, chances are, less than that actually makes it into the cup.

It's not that big of a deal having to put your cream and sugar in your coffee for you because Covid.

.... Except for those of you who ask for ten or more sugars in your coffee. Especially when we're busy. You know who you are, and I wish for shame upon your families for generations.

Dear Supervisor,

All your repeated insisting, out of some desperate need to protect your shockingly delicate ego, that you've "been doing this for fifteen years" whenever anyone so much as asks for clarification, does not flatter you like you think it does. In fact it does the opposite; it tells me that in all those years you've never learned to gracefully accept your mistakes and move on from them, which is impressive in the worst kind of way.

If you're breathing, you're going to make a mistake. That's why we check in with each other and why we make backups. Your inability to make peace with that in fifteen years does not reflect well on you and should not be my or anyone else's problem.

Also, I have to sit on my hands every time you passive-aggressively text in the group chat how much better the service is at another location because, if I don't, I might ask you if you think the difference in management had anything to do with it.
