Meet Stranger

Kylie sighed when she approached the cafe patio. It has been two days since Isabella left the loft and she refused to revert to her old shy self, so she headed out. There had been a small cafe that Isabella had been to in the fall during one of her manager meet ups. She told kylie about how beautiful the view of the city had been from the patio and that the food tasted amazing. Natural kylie wanted to experience this for herself but never had the time. Until now that is. Three months after the first time the infamous city view cafe had been brought up, kylie went to buy a cup of coffee and to sit on the patio on this dark winter. That was her plan when she left home. She didn’t realize the popularity with this place and certainly hadn't expected the patio to be filled except for one seat. The seat was opposite to a man on his laptop with a cup of joe next to him. The stranger looked slightly older than herself but there was something about him that had aged him. He look mature, hard working, confident. Something that not all people in there mid-twenties possessed. After debating with herself over weather or not to sit in the remaining seat, kylie had told herself “if you don’t sit down now you’ll be waiting another three months. Besides the stranger looks busy and he won’t notice. Then again stranger danger, Oh screw it, i’m sitting.” And with that Kylie sat down and took in the light of the city produced through the light snow. She didn’t know how long she looked on but had noticed the man shut his laptop and get up. “Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry. I haven’t even asked if i could sit here. And it looks like you were working and i just ruined your concentration. And I just seem to get in the way of this. Really, i’m sorry. I’ll leave. so sorry.”Kylie got up and was about to walk away but the man grab her hand. To him, he hadn’t been thinking when he grabbed her arm. He hasn’t learned the girls name and yet in a way with no word he was asking her to stay. “umm- It’s ok” the man started, “You can stay if you want. It looks like you were enjoying the view. Not like that i mean. The- The view of the city is what i meant.” The brunette girl was returning to her seat and finally got a good look at this guy. The man who had looked so confident from a distance was stuttering. This was new to the man too. “Oh. OK then i guess. Thank you. You can stay too. Not that you have to. I mean if you want to. but you look busy so i guess not. Unless you do..”Shut up kylie she thought to herself. The stranger smiled at the small shy girl. “I think i will stay then. Oh and Sudoku.”He replied. “What?””You kept saying that i was working on something. I was. Not work but a Sudoku. Lame i know. sometimes i feel older than i actually am.” The man chuckled at his statement, followed by a blush.”Well i’m glad you can find time in your digital Sudoku to stay here with little old me. I’m kylie by the way.”She extended her hand to the man.”Nice to meet you kylie. I’m Maxon.” Maxon shook Kylie’s hand and the two watched the city through the snow.
