Wir
Wir sind Generation gepierct und tätowiert.
I lied in bed, crying, for half an hour yesterday, because I couldn't save the world all by myself, so please don't say that this generation is lazy and doesn't care about anything but themselves
I'm on a mission
There's a whole generation out that needs guidance. I feel like I was extremely blessed to be born in the middle of the era to where they were crossing over to technology. Not only have I been able to grow with it but I can go back to the basics as well. i.e- proper letter writing, legit balancing a check book, math in my head or on paper. Today's world is spoiled; not a bad thing but not a great thing either. If all technology stopped working today what would most of us do? And I'm completely guilty of that part. The internet at work went out and I was SO clueless (mainly because I didn't want to file) but we've become dependent on it. The best part is we have the world, education, every resource imaginable RIGHT AT the tip of our fingers; but, how are we using it? My generation, which is technically as young as 19 to as 'younger' as 39 (I say 21-37), has a responsibility to teach and inform the ones coming up. Granted times are going to change-- change is inevitable, but not all change is good either. When is the last time you've seen someone younger than you just sitting down reading a book? Or outside playing or riding a bike? They've gotten caught up in media, social media, electronics and sadly the world.
Wale said it best, "may not change the world but let me inspire someone who can". That is my mission. To bring back some of the old basics back. Being resourceful. Letting and teaching the next generation that there is SO much more to life than what the world offers.... all you have to do is apply yourself and surround yourself with positivity.
When I hear 'Older' people complain about younger generations it literally makes me want to scream, and I would like to voice some thought about it on my blog
I have had to endure mulitple conversations between middle aged people about how shitty my generation, and the generation younger than me are. and I've just sat there, and didn't say a damn thing, because I am younger, they are older and i wanted to hear what they have to say. i wish i could have told them it was all bullshit, because while they are older, they are not right.
one person was fed up that younger people are:
always on their phone
dont want to go to school
dont want to listen to their parents
dont put the new toilet paper on the roll, but instead let it sit near the toilet
to which i call BULLSHIT:
just because you dont know how to work a smart phone doesn't mean you have to be jealous. what are we supposed to do NOT utilize this amazing technology right at our finger tips because "thats not what our parents did!" PHONES TODAY ARE FUCKING AMAZING. you can look up anything at anytime! and that fucking sweet. so kids stay glued to your phone, look up whatever you want at anytime
School does not = an education, school is a soul crushing place, i dont blame anybody who doesn't want to go, i had an average of 60 sick days a year, because i hated school so fucking much, and I am pretty damn smart (despite my grammar LOL)
I happen to have amazing parents. Unfortunately they didn't always support what i wanted to do with my life at first, luckily i could always convince them. Not all parents are like this, and if your parents try to control your dreams, well then fucking don't listen to them. My mothers mother, wouldn't let her go to art school, she killed her dream, my mom was an absolutely amazing artist, and now she doesn't even pick up a pencil anymore, My mom tried to do the same thing for me and Baking...i was like fuck NO. now i do what i love.
WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK WHERE YOU PUT THE TOILET PAPER ROLL, THE WORLD WONT END, YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO WIPE YOUR FUCKING ASS.
he then went on to complain that his step kids are derelicts who get into trouble with the law, and how his wife (their mother) is not hard enough discipline wise on them, but he barely ever talks to his kids because "they aren't his" If I had some asshat living in my house who barely ever attempted to get to know me or my interests Id be a little prick to him too. you do not automatically get respect for being a parent, even parents have to earn respect, just because you were told when you were younger that you HAD to respect your elders, no matter how badly they treated you doesn't mean that's the correct way to live, and treat people.
LONG STORY SHORT
just because one generation was forced to live a certain way doesn't mean this generation is out of control for choosing to live life the way they want to, and to get exactly what they want to out of their own lives, so stay on your amazing technologically advanced phones, do what you want, and put the goddamned toilet paper wherever you would like
I am lucky enough to be kinda in between generation, my family had one communal computer while i was growing up, but when i was 14 i got my own, i didnt have a smart phone until i was 19, but when i see a toddler playing with an iPad it makes me happy. i think technology is amazing and we should use it while we have it. A woman tried to convince me not to use any kind of technology because what would i do when there is an Apocalypse? Technology would be moot then!...well fucking duh, just because someday maybe my computer wont start and internet wont exists doesn't mean i shouldn't use it now. if and when it fails I will re learn how to function with out it, thats one of the great traits of this generation, we are super adaptable
