On March 7th, “How to Outsmart a Billion Robot Bees,” the second volume of my Genius Factor series, is released. I’m quite pleased by the fantastic reception I’ve gotten for the first volume, and am looking forward to having the second one out there, going on tour, etc. If you haven’t seen the books, yet, give ‘em a read!

The above is the covers for the first two volumes, with both the US and UK editions. Plus, I did a little drawing of Delphine, one of the main characters. I’ve been sketching lately as a way of keeping moderately sane.

Today is Friday the 13th, and that means it’s time to nab a copy of How to Capture an Invisible Cat, my critically acclaimed roller-coaster of an adventure starring Delphine Cooper and Nate Bannister, a boy genius SO smart that... in order to keep things lively... he does three incredibly NOT smart things every Friday the 13th, in order to challenge himself with the fallout. This time, he’s turned Proton, his mother’s cat, into a HUGE invisible monster. Dealing with this one’s going to be a bit difficult, especially when the nefarious Red Death Tea Society chooses this time to strike!

How to Capture an Invisible Cat is the first book in my Genius Factor series. If you’ve been looking for a good new book to devour, consider this a sign. It’s Friday the 13th... your lucky day!

I occasionally like to do these “famous scientists” or “famous adventurers” tribute posts, since my Genius Factor books focus on both adventure and science (thanks to my great love for both)... but it struck me I haven’t done a post for inventor / actress Hedy Lamarr. She wasn’t only a fantastic actress, but an incredible mind, and a woman who outsmarted the Nazis, gleaned information, and then gave not only military intelligence to American military, but also invented a type of “frequency hopping” that meant the Germans couldn’t jam our signals, and the concept had immense value in radar. American military intelligence responded to this by... not taking her seriously and never really using the tech for decades. Still, her ideas and concepts were later instrumental for bluetooth devices, GPS tracking, and so on. Hats off to an amazing person, Hedy Lamarr.

Continuing my tributes to great scientists and adventurers, as a way of celebrating the March 1st release of my Genius Factor novels from Bloomsbury. The first volume is titled “How To Capture An Invisible Cat,”the story of Nate Bannister, a sixth grade genius who is SO intelligent that... every Friday the 13th, as a way of keeping his mind challenged... he schedules himself to do three crazy / not-so-smart things. This time he’s super-enlarged Proton, his family cat, and also turned him invisible. To make matters worse, the “experiment” has been corrupted by the evil Red Death Tea Society, an organization of genius-assassins with a penchant for fine teas. The novels are seen through the eyes of Delphine Cooper, Nate’s 6th classmate, and a bit of a reckless adventuress / trouble-maker.

This post is a tribute to Rosalind Franklin, who... along with a number of other achievements... was instrumental in the discovery of the “double helix” of DNA. MUCH of what we know about how human beings are actually made is directly due to Franklin’s works.

While Franklin’s genius was boundless, her life was unfortunately short. She was born on July 25th, 1920, and died at the age of 37 on April 16, 1958, after a battle with ovarian cancer.
