Shikamaru sighed. So much had been going on in the past couple of weeks, even he had a hard time wrapping his hear around all of it. The Fourth Shinobi War was about to start, Konoha had been destroyed, Sasuke was officially a target for his own comrades to kill... It was like the whole world had shifted somehow. Is there really any right or wrong anymore? he caught himself wondering. Has there ever been?
He tried to change the train of his thoughts to less heavy matters. It's been a while since he last just hung out with Ino and Chuoji at a BBQ somewhere for lunch. Or just plain lye on whatever hillside to watch how the clouds never grow old. He missed that. He had for months now. He never really had the time to do all that anymore, so gazing at the stars for a couple of minutes every now and then had had to suffice. And time would slip even faster through his fingers once everything settled into place and his world would start crumbling. Those moments would become even more scrambled. But now, he couldn't help but wonder if he'd ever see the stars again.
This might very well be his last chance, so he wholeheartedly took it, and dragged his feet, hands lazily thrown in pockets, to the roof of the highest building still standing. He didn't plan on sharing this night with anyone, really, but once he got there, he realized the planning wasn't really up to him. Because someone was there already.
