Jokes aside, I have at times considered

"heman" (maybe best re-written as "heeman" to put emphasis on the pronunciation, but "woman" gets away with not being "wooman" so it's probably fine) and

"wirman"/"werman" (based on the actual English etymology).

But I think "genman" beats either of those as the gendered "man" word alternative when it comes to searchability and auditory/visual distinctness.

"Genman" does have the misfortune of looking a little like "German", and it gets a little wonky if you want to say things like "German genmen" instead of "German men", but

"wirman"/"werman" is more likely to be misheard as "woman" in a noisy environment or in a hurry, especially in some accents, especially because no one is familiar with it, and it actually overlaps with a real name people have, and

"heman" is literally impossible to throw into a search engine without countless results for the "He-Man" character/show/franchise, it feels like it has a higher the risk of being associated in some minds with the term "she-man"/"she-male", and it feels like it's too liable to be perceived as implying value judgment or as expressing masculinity above that of a normal genman man (gendered).

And all of these risks are tiny but I've spent enough time paying attention to human errors in interpretation of words that I know they all chip away at the viability of the word.
