Genma Week D1: Shiranui Clan Techniques
Heyo! It’s July 15th which means @genmaweek IS OFFICIALLY A GO AND I AM SO EXCITED!!!!
Tbh I wanted to write a fic but I'm on a semi-hiatus at the moment so I'm not actually writing, but obviously I couldn't miss out on my chance to participate in this event! Yall know I love my boy so any chance to celebrate him is pretty much top priority lol.
So I figured what I’d do is a bit of headcanons! Day 1 of Genma Week is Festival / Tanabata + Shiranui Clan (Techniques), and I decided to focus solely on techniques! (tbh i have so many headcanons for him it was hard to choose lol)
The Shiranui clan is well known for their mastery of poisons. It's practically impossible to trace it back, but if you can be bothered you’ll find that training in poisons has been passed down for generations.
Seriously, it's practically an art form at this point. Throughout the decades, the craft has been honed until it's as close to perfection as any skill can get. Genma can create a poison so potent and so subtle it's almost impossible to tell that it's poison unless you know exactly what to look for.
(Spoiler: Only four shinobi in the world know what to look for and they are Genma, Genma’s mother, Raido, and Iwashi.)
If you want to get specific, the Shiranui clan's proficiency with poisons began with Genma's great-great-great-great grandfather - on his mother's side. Truth be told, his father married into it.
Rumors still circulate the village that his father fell victim to his mother's experimentation, despite those rumors being proven false.
The Shiranui clan doesn't owe all of their notoriety to Genma's mother - his father brought a proficiency with projectile weapons to the table. Kunai, senbon, etc - it's 50% skill, 50% inheriting his father's talent with very sharp ninja tools.
Tbh, Genma is the best of both worlds. He combines his mother's talent with poisons with his father's talent with sharp objects to create a very dangerous and very deadly arsenal of knowledge.
Basically, don't fuck with him. He'll end you and you won’t even know it was him.
