Been working on doodling this lovely OC <3 The Genocidalite is one of the primal deities of Obscura, that is, a god formed of pure energy of creation, born befor time, space, life, death, reason, and chaos. They are also class Z deities and considered true immortals in that they cannot die or be killed. Destroying their physical form is a temporary reprieve and they will regenerate in time. They are eternal. Also gender neutral. Nearly all of them use “they” except for one that uses “she”.
Also INSANELY huge. New York City is just something to casually step on to them.
Of the primal deities, the Genocidalite is ironically considered one of the more tragic, or at least, the one deity that probably did not deserve what was done to them. They are not the first primal deity drawn out but the first one fully fleshed out c:
The Genocidalite used to be a force of pure destruction, built for it and did nothing but just kill and cause a lot of erasure of reality. They were made without emotions or morals so as to never falter in their purpose. All they possessed was logic although it was simple at that.
However, the king of Heaven, the Seraphim Micacaelus, convinced the Genocidalite that they would be better at their job if they were to gain emotions and so they struck a pact where Micacaelus would give up their emotions....which Mica did...but they only gave Genocidalite the “unwanted” emotions such as fear, anger, sadness, guilt, ect.
Burdened with these new emotions, the Genocidalite began to be unable to destroy, to do the one thing they were born to do. They felt guilt for their action and pain at what they did to others. They began to hate being called a monster and “heartless”. They suffered terrible bouts of grief, just wanting forgiveness and grief. They demanded Micacaelus take back what was given but the Seraphim refused, sneering that the Genocidalite was just realizing how “useless” a purpose they had. That they were a useless god of destruction that would be hated and feared. That they had nothing to offer.
Broken and in despair, the Genocidalite sealed themselves away in a pocket of reality and decided that they would try to be something else. They would teach themselves to create, not to destroy and so....they create their first being...which they promptly destroyed with a sob of sorrow as it had turned out twisted and horrid. They tried again though, even though it hurt to see that nothing they created had any beauty and they abandoned and destroyed creation after creation, world after world, all in a fit of self-pity and grief that they never grew “better” at creation....that the only thing they saw they could do was destroy.
What they had not realized was they had gotten better at creating and their creation that survived, landmarks and landscapes, would inspire the celestials to start building their own worlds. That their efforts created the Harbinger, a being that would take up their mantle of destruction and give purpose to it, that it was to clear out the old to allow new beginnings. The Genocidalite would never know, never pause in their efforts to create to see all that they had done to build Obscura.
They would never even know Micacaelus was long dead now and those that sneered at them long since gone in no small part thanks to their beloved creation Harbinger which they had tossed aside as a being no one would ever venerate due to the twisted features.
The Genocidalite simply sits in their created little world, trying to master creation and become a deity of creation, not only of destruction and to perhaps be loved and worshiped as something more benevolent despite their past. For the one emotion given to them that fuels their drive is hope.
Hope in the future and hope in themselves.
Of the primal gods, the Genocidalite is the only one that is given a small measure of respect outside the Obscuri pantheon. Some are impressed with the terrifing destructive capabilities they possess and others with the willpower they possessed to go on despite the burden of so many negative emotions burning within them now.
Still, it is best to avoid trying to tell Genocidalite they are good at creating as that tends to spark their anger and they will lash out seeing the words as lies. Just things to mock their pain and suffering of creating new things. Their self esteem is so shot that compliments are insulting now. just don’t say anything and maybe give their big toe a hug. That might be better.
To summarize: Genocidalite got emotions. Those emotions made them not want to do the on thing they had talent in so they tried to develop skills in something they were really bad at. After a long time, they got good at it but they still thought themselves bad at it and just cried, seeing everything they did as awful when in fact a lot of people got inspired by them.
Now they sit alone still thinking they are awful and no one tells them otherwise because they just get more upset and murderlize the people that compliment them and then feel terrible.
