I've been playing through prototype and one question has been confounding me. To what extent does Alex need oxygen? When idling he will cough, and Bloodtox causes a coughing fit so he clearly uses a respiratory system. But at the same time he is a "viral biomass." I know a great deal bacteria and other microorganisms require oxygen, but when it comes to viruses I'm clueless

A conclusion reached by our little Discord group. I think at least Blacklight re-induces pluripotency in cells and re-differentiate them, no matter how weird that sounds. Hey, it’s apocalypse story with flying jello man and big angry monsters, don’t worry too much about realism.

Also I don’t think viruses need air, but their host cells definitely do.

Is it just me or is Alex a chocolate person? Alex seems like a chocolate person, both pre-blacklight and post-blacklight (angst).

So here's a potentially angsty thought. Given the idea that the virus repurposes cells as needed but leaves bones and organs in tact unless they need to be altered(which has been shown eyes, teeth, so on), then clearly a brain would be present. Brains require sleep and one of the leading theories behind sleep is it is to consolidate memory. Alex has the memories of all those people so I could imagine this scenario being a potentially unpleasant experience

I don’t sleep much anymore.
