When Yingxing was in his 20s, he had a procedure known as a Spinal Meridian Node surgery performed that essentially grafted an external, cybernetic spine to his spinal column. The cybernetic spine was of his own creation, designed to physically (if painfully) interface with his brain stem and nervous system that was designed on a similar, non-invasive variant that Cloud Knights like Jingliu possessed to wield flying swords. Unlike a Xianzhou Native that cannot sustain grafts, Yingxing's was a success and far more tech-heavy. Its purpose? To pilot several mechas at once on the battlefield that became part of his infamy. In addition, he also had small nodes attached to his temples that allowed for further control. The cybernetic spine was designed by him and the procedure was conducted by surgeons within the Alchemy Commission. However, after the Sedition, due to his body metamorphosing, his body rejected the implants and spent the first several days in the Shackling Prison wherein his implants were horrifically and gruesomely ejected from his body.
