Isn't it ironic (yes, Alanis!) that #GenX was offered THIS 💉 but I'm proud that we came out, spreading positivity in our wake -- putting our grit & forbearance on full display 🙌🏽. After all, we're the generation that cut our teeth on Nirvana, The Breakfast Club, McDonalds pizza, Crystal Pepsi & ⬛ before the internet. Some of us even flew ✈️ with smoking sections 😏. It's truly a miracle of science! So many GenXers posting #VaccineSelfies of upper arms! A miracle indeed! So proud of Gen X for growing up to be the generation that believes in science & rejected all the fear mongering. I just have to figure out when Bill Gates turns on the 5G so I can see if my microchip gets good signal 😉. The whole process was quick & easy. It's like going to a Janet Jackson concert with all the 40 year old's lining up. Few side effects -- mostly tired -- but also relieved & hopeful. It has been an emotional rollercoaster for me. As I was leaving the Telus Convention Center yesterday, I ran into a bunch of #COVIDIdiots protesting 😤. My reaction was boiling rage 😡. What has made this so unbearably difficult is all the ineffective, half-measures -- that didn't protect our jobs/economy or our mental health -- but just dragged out the pandemic to the point where I'm are completely depleted. Those that tried for #COVIDZero faired better & that is a lesson for us. By catering to anti-science weirdos, the response to the pandemic was embarrassingly botched by the UCP. What we are going through was entirely unnecessary & preventable. I know what "vaccine envy" feels like - watching people getting the #COVID19Vaccine when it's not yet your turn. Not everyone is as luckily or privileged as I have been. For me, the vaccine is not a free pass out of COVID jail. I'm still socially distancing, masking etc. Variants exist.
