Know Your Major: Geographical Studies

The Geographical Studies major at UChicago examines the interactions between humans and the environment from cultural and sociological perspectives.  Students in this program take classes in urban structure, biogeography, and the history of cartography.  Students are also required to take courses in GIS (geographic information systems) programming to learn how to code and collect data.  Like many majors at UChicago, Geographical Studies is highly interdisciplinary.  To get a better feel for this major, check out the course catalog.
