The geometric moray (Gymnothorax griseus) is a moray eel of the family Muraenidae found throughout the western Indian Ocean at depths to 40 m. Its length is up to 65 cm.

Moray eels or Muraenidae are a family of eels whose members are found worldwide. There are approximately 200 species in 15 genera which are almost exclusively marine, but several species are regularly seen in brackish water, and a few are found in fresh water.

we've had this friendly young geometric moray for over a year now because nobody has a 500-gallon tank to put them in (we ordered a more manageably-sized pepper moray but there was a mixup)

but anyway like

Seeing these guys for the first time and they remind me of the eel version of the pokemon slowpoke. NO thoughts...head EMPTY

I love their patterns, though - they're unlike anything I've seen before on any aquatic animal, like someone gave them little poke-stick tattoos.
