The thing is Morse and George Fancy are so similar. Fancy goes looking at rings for Trewlove after only a few months dating, which she says isn’t serious. Morse looks at rings for Monica after only a month together, suggests moving abroad together after only a month even. Both of them hopeless romantics.
finished a 'quartet' rewatch and this scene honestly never fails to crack me up.
morse spent the entire episode playing spy.
but fancy didn't.
he has no idea what the fuck is going on. and yet he's tagging along because of course he is; helping morse to look for whatever he's looking for, asking the same questions with this perpetually confused expression on his face.
and when he points out the clock and morse replies with a "well done" !!! it's probably the first time morse offered a genuine compliment to him and he's obviously happy about it because FINALLY he's done something right !!
but at the same time, he still stands there like 🤨 w h a t
