New TV drama Fighting Season to explore PTSD and other challenges facing today’s Anzacs

A PIONEERING new Foxtel drama series, Fighting Season is set to explore the impact of the war on terror on today’s Australian soldiers and their oft-forgotten families.
The six-part mystery — starring Beauty And The Beast star Jay Ryan and Deadline Gallipoli’s Ewen Leslie — is on a mission to expose issues, including PTSD and other challenges facing our armed forces and the diverse men and women currently serving.
New Zealand-born Ryan, who leads the cast as unit commander, Sgt Sean Collins, said the incentive to return from the US to play a part in the production was to tell a new generation of Anzac stories.
“We’re so used to hearing what American soldiers go through but we need to take care of our own team here,” Ryan told News Corp on set at Sydney’s Fox Studios, where filming will begin this week.
“It’s about time that we tell our own soldiers stories and let people know what has been going on and at the same time create an entertaining drama around that notion.”
