Written on the Wind (1956). Alcoholic playboy Kyle Hadley marries the woman secretly loved by his poor but hard-working best friend, who in turn is pursued by Kyle's nymphomaniac sister.
A good melodrama is pretty hard to come by, but this is definitely a good one. It’s grounded by brilliant performances, a bold story, and some genuinely tragic plot points. It’s well made, compelling, and has some really beautifully framed scenes and cinematography. 8/10.
