#Repost @historical.time.machine ・・・ The 1960 film ‘Eyes Without a Face’, and the song it inspired by Billy Idol of the same name 👁 • George Franju’s ‘Les Yeux Sans Visage’ (Eyes Without a Face) is a 1960 Horror Film about a girl who’s face was masked to cover the disfigurements left by a car accident caused by her father. Her father lures a young girl into his secret laboratory to perform a facial transplant for his daughter, which ends up failing and her disfigurements worsen. • The film was the inspiration to Billy Idol for the 1983 song ‘Eyes Without a Face’. It reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Idol’s first Top 10 hit in the USA. • Interesting fact: during the shooting of Billy Idol’s music video for ‘Eyes Without a Face’ he accidentally left hard contact lenses in his eyes for over 36 hours and then fell asleep. He woke up in excruciating pain.
