Short Stories for beginner and intermediate students
24 German Short Stories Ebook + Audios. | Learnzyp
24 German Short Stories Vol. 1 specifically designed for pupils in the beginner and intermediate levels who want to read a real novel.
Written and recorded for German beginners and intermediates. Each level (A1, A2, B1, B2) features six exciting short stories from a variety of genres, including history, science fiction, fantasy, and modern literature.
One of our experienced native German teachers wrote all of our books. The use of vocabulary and grammatical structures is matched to the level of the student.
Not too difficult, but yet not too simple. Words that the learner might not be familiar with well are bolded, and they can find the English translation next to them in a column on the right. As a result, the reading process won’t be delayed.
The mp3 files, which were professionally recorded by native German speakers, will assist the students in improving their listening comprehension skills and pronunciation. In other words, our exclusive choice of books allows beginning and intermediate students to read, listen, and learn German.
You can’t go wrong with our books if you’re a German instructor seeking resources to go along with your textbooks.
Hey, german langblrs!
How does the verb stehe works?
All the examples I have are translated as 'to be'. What's the difference with the verb sein?
studieren vs. lernen
The difference between studieren and lernen can be difficult for students of German to understand, especially English speakers.
Usually, it would be accurate to translate studieren as to study and lernen as to learn.
Meine Freundin studiert Biologie. My girlfriend is studying biology.
Alex muss lesen lernen. Alex has to learn how to read.
However, in the context of studying a specific chapter, studying for an exam or revising, native German speakers will say lernen instead of studieren.
Ich studiere lerne seit drei Stunden, weil ich morgen einen Test schreibe. I have been studying for three hours because I’m writing a test tomorrow.
Studieren implies both visiting a university or college OR reading/examining/watching something with scrutiny. The following sentence would be a correct use of the latter meaning:
Der Anwalt runzelte die Stirn während er die Akten studierte. The lawyer furrowed his brows while he studied the files.
Even in English you can see the difference here between studying notes for class and studying a file. I hope this helped you to differentiate the two verbs a little better!
So a few months ago when I started using Lingvist, I was saving the Grammar Tips on my computer, in case I wanted it offline. There are some really useful stuff, so after I finally have it all in a Google Doc (it’s pretty much copy and paste, I started out with prints but...). So, yeah, I feel that it’s easier to read a Google Doc or search when you need, than come back to the site every time.
Here’s the link to the Doc if you’d like to use it as well.
German Tips 101:
Today, I thought I would share with everyone a little German tip I learnt whilst learning German! I think I’m going to make this a thing on here, where I share some of my German tips!
♡♡♡
Tip #1: The first one I want to share is to change your phone’s language into German.
♡♡♡
How to:
For iPhone: Go to the settings app>general>language & region> device language>select desired language
For Android: Go to the settings app>general>language & input > language >select desired language
♡♡♡
It’s actually kind of amazing how much you absorb by changing your phone’s language. Almost everything changes to German, except for posts that have originally been posted in English. Perhaps, I’ll do a German vocab list with all the vocabulary I’ve learnt from changing my phone to German!
Weil - Because
The German word for because is weil (pronounced like vile). When you use weil in a sentence, the structure of the rest of the sentence is changed. Instead of ‘subject’, ‘verb’, then ‘object’ it changes to ‘subject’, ‘object’, then ‘verb’. An easy way to remember this is by saying:
“Weil makes the verb run for miles”
This is a simple way to remember to move the verb to the end of your sentence. Oh and don’t forget to add a comma right before ‘weil’. Here are some examples:
Without weil: Ich lese gern. Bucher sind toll.
With weil: Ich lese gern, weil Bucher toll sind.
(sind being the verb in this sentence)
