Operation: Blue Arrow
Aftermath
No EMP should have sounded like that.
There was always an electrical buzz when a device of that nature was powered up, even at the size of the bomb that was being delivered. It was never anything so extreme that it would cause an airborne helicopter to jostle, disturbed by the sudden shift of air. The turbulence and the illumination of the night had him crossing to the window to look down upon the base in muted alarm.
There had been innocent people down there. Men, women and children that trusted they would get them away from their captors. This wasn’t part of the plan and any consolation that Reinhardt tried to offer fell upon deaf ears. He wasn’t ready to listen to anything the man had to say.
That didn’t happen until days later after he had gone over the plan, the orders that were signed off. Nothing in them mentioned anything beyond an EMP. It was Reinhardt’s reaction that truly struck him as strange. As if he knew something Gabriel didn’t.
He doesn’t bother telling his crew that he’ll return. The moment the thought comes to mind he leaves the area they’re situated in to search for the larger man. When he finds him it’s in the middle of the mess hall, surrounded by fellow coworkers trying to enjoy their meal. Setting his hands upon the table he braces his weight against them and steadily regards the other, his head tipping just a notch to the side.
