im seeing all these excuses for that Germanwing pilot who crashed into the mountain and killed all those people like "did he have a brain disorder" or "did he have suicidal tendencies" like ummmm no he performed an act of terrorism just because hes white doesn't mean theres another sociable acceptable excuse for their actions; he was a terrorist
I've seen some posts pointing out the U.S. side of tumblr taking over the horrific German plane crash as a way to push a political agenda (one that I often agree with but dude, this is not our thing) and while I'm not surprised that this has happened I'm disappointed by our response in Europeans time of need. Sometimes, a tragedy is just a tragedy and the best thing you can do is offer support to those who are grieving. It's one of the things I've always admired about our country, when other countries need help we as a group of people are almost always first in line to offer the helping hand or give to charities to help. And yes, I realize that this can also be our worst aspect because it is often twisted by politicians to send us to war or by our media to make us pay more attention to issues they want us to. However, I still think it's a genuinely good characteristic of our people. So, I was sad to see this response from Americans and I think those of us who claim to be working towards creating greater social justice need to learn to be more aware of what we say and when we say it. Think more complexly than them vs us and realize that there is more to the world than the box you live in. Sometimes it's important to enlarge your world and step outside the echo chamber. Just a last couple quick points that I want to make to any Europeans that are still greatly offended and Americans who still don't get it. First, I'm very sorry for the loss that your nations have suffered and I'm there for anyone who wants to talk. Secondly, and this is not an excuse just some context, I'm being completely honest when I say I never learned a bit of European history in high school and my college foray into European history has been pretty minimal. I can't speak for every US student but many of us are ignorant of European history. Those of you who claim otherwise, well, I'm not going to tell you you're wrong but I'll bet most Europeans know more about their own history and current political issues than you do buddy. So, while I can understand those who are frustrated by the lack of white mass murderers being classified as terrorist here, don't assume that Europe or any other continents/countries have our same problems. I guess what I'm getting at is that upset Europeans have every right to rage at these posts and if you're an American that doesn't get why they're upset I think you should take a step back and analyze your own knowledge of history. Realize that your knowledge isn't the only knowledge and that we don't all share the same problems. And to Europeans who are upset still I'm sorry and while it can't erase the initial response I hope the Americans speaking out now in your defense and as friends to support you, help in some way.

Lubitz
I think the crash of GermanWings flight 9525 is so shocking tothe world not because of the 150 lives that were lost, but because of the narcissism of Andreas Lubitz, which we intutitvely recognize as an emotional force that can destroy civilization itself.
There is a form of PTSD that occurs very early in life, and is the source of widespread damage. It shows up in politics in times of serious social stress. I call the condition:Early Emotional Stress Disorder (EESD). So, it is a special case of PTSD. Very special. It is the right-wing personality.
The first two years of life are crucially important for emotional health.
When we are newly born, we need a range of energy inputs. These are things like
(a) touch, contact with body warmth, being held lovingly. The larger, stronger body sends scannable physical signals to the smaller, weaker body.
(b) sound input: singing, cooing, lullabyes.
(c) eye contact and facial mirroring.
All of these inputs are essential for human growth at this stage of life. “We are energy beings, connected to the energy all around us by the right hemisphere of our brain.” (Jill Bolte Taylor)
When this nurture is either missing or deficient, a certain emotional malaise takes over the infant. Since there is no language ability yet, this malaise takes a purely sensory form. It is a feeling of confusion, rage, and self-doubt that can crystallize into a fundamental question about its very existence. Am I of value? Am I worth anything at all? Do I exist?
We now know that all emotions are neurological events. Popular consciousness usually does not recognize this and considers emotions to be mysterious, insubstantial forces that come from I-know-not-where. But scientific consciousness knows that they are neurological events based on the condition of certain neurons in the human body, mostly neurons in the brain. These damaged neurons send messages of tension to the several other organs of the body that mediate overt behavior.
So, EESD is the result of failing to nurture certain neurons in the brain, which then experience a state of partial atrophy. Note that this is a biological condition independent of other human functions such as thought or language. Even though the18-month-old infant cannot talk about the experience or process it with its mature cognitive abilities (the fully-developed brain is needed for this), or recall it later on in life, this organism is damaged.
We see this in trees and other plants which grow up stunted or twisted by early deficiencies of nurture. In human beings this shows up as emotional stuntedness or twistedness.
The occurrence of this condition so early in life, before the development of mature cognitive abilities, gives it a curious quality of invisibility. Throughout life it continues to generate thoughts and behavior, for example, blind beliefs, persistent irrationality, lack of empathy.
Deprived of parental attention, the infant is now saddled with an imperative of self-involvement. It must take care of itself. But, again, because of the early occurrence of the trauma, this imperative has no “voice”, or self-dialog. Its blindness and silence make it the ultimate narcissism. It is the narcissism that can destroy the human race.
It is at work in ISIS and Boko Haram and in Islam generally, but these are not its most virulent forms. Those forms are Wall Street, and Google, and the super rich in general. I respectfully submit. Take a very close look at their behaviors. I think that any healthy mind will come to the same conclusion.

I just want to say I’m a little disgusted by people on Tumblr. Zayn leaves 1D over thousand of fangirls panic. No one cares that a plane crashed in France which killed 150 people! Germany is devasted. And also those people who are complaining that people care more about those events than the 1000 dying children in Africa, I just want to clarify something the reason why Germany cares more about the plane crash at the moment is that it’s just so near to me for example Haltern am See, is the place where 16 students lived, is a few kilometres away from me and just the thought that maybe my best friend could have been on that plane is the most horrible thing I can imagine. Rip Germanwings
Plane crushes suck. I'm so sorry that you have lost a loved on just because of a Pilot.
