Future Development of Gestureworks Flash
With the release of Gestureworks Core, we want to ensure to our Flash users that ActionScript development will not slow down. The Gestureworks Flash team is now larger and more skilled than it has ever been in past. We are adding new features and components, and integrating developments from Adobe, such as Worker threads, and GPU-acceleration. We are also adding support for exciting new technologies such the Leap Motion, which will give you 3d motion gestures. Feb 6, 2013 - Last year we saw modifications to Gestureworks Flash that made it not only the fastest Flash-based gesture processor engine available, but one of the fastest in any language. Among else, Flash users also saw the addition of over 50 plug-and-play user interface elements/components, which can be configured through XML and CSS. Like Gestureworks Core and many other Flash libraries, Gestureworks Flash is moving to a subscription-based model to better manage upgrades and support. All licensed version 3.x users will be automatically enrolled into a one-year subscription for ticketed support and free upgrades. The new support system includes an overhauled direct-to-developer issue tracker and a community-based forum. (Please see the new license as you download updates and upgrades.) We anticipate several major releases in the next year. Here’s a peek into what we have planned for the Gestureworks Flash 2013 roadmap: Gestureworks GML: - 3d motion gestures - leap motion integration - gesture sequencing - gesture recording - stylus support - pressure augmented gestures - bimanual gestures - multimodal gestures - advanced clustering options (proximity, device-base, and blended clustering models) - accelerometer support for mobile devices Gestureworks CML: - new ui elements and components (accordion, 3D model viewer, etc.) - seamless database integration - display object cloning - integrated audio feedback layer - GPU-acceleration - Starling integration - Away3D integration - multithreaded architecture - CML messaging - CML expressions - CML state machine
