Here is my take on the World Champs Off Road Triathlon: I did all three courses today & if I could design a course, that would be it. The organisation is spot & you can train already on the course without needing a map as everything is so well marked. Well done @in_2_adventure 🏊🏻🚴🏻🏃🏻The water wasn't too cold = 16 degrees. The water of Lake Crackenback was clean, the buoys well placed, in numbers & big enough. The only minus is the weeds that get in the way in two occasions on the two lap course (1500m). The beach start should be fun & does not allow for much running or dolphening. Just watch a big rock on your left heading to the first yellow buoy. The bike course could be compaired to a hard cyclocross course. Fast but muddy, windy, rocky & even sandy. The tyre pressure & tyre width will make a big difference on the day of the two lap course (30kms). The course is not too technical, constantly undulated & pretty safe. There is no big hills to climb & when it is unsafe for someone of average skills than there is a safer B line which is a bit slower but risk free. The only technical sections would be rock gardens, water crossing & sharp turns. If the course is dry by Friday for the women's start then the bike course will be heaps easier. I felt like I rode the course at 70% today & it took me two hours. The only minus is that there are not many sections to pass but that is why it is called single trails I guess! The run course is what I call real cross running. Fun, undulated, slippery, rocky & challenging. I had a ball on it & the hardest part will be the 300m river run which will be up to the hips for certain people, the tunnel run, the hills, the river crossing & the downhills. If it is dry then you can get away with standard runners but if like today, don't even bother to try & race without off road trail shoes or you will have the feeling of ice skating. I love it here & cannot wait for the weekend 👍 #gpcsquad #represent #trainspecific #racebetter #trextri #getdirtydownunder #triathlon (at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa)
