It’s not often we feature Willesden. OK, we’ve never featured Willesden…until now. Tonight’s Pop-up Wonderland promises to put Willesden on the map with its exhibition of Ladies Fashion Mags from the 30’s plus the Paul Kench Jazz Band, cheap booze and a raffle. Even better? It’s all FREE. So, head over to NW London’s best kept secret and find out what all the fuss is about.
Let Comedian Matthew Highton Entertain You with his New Show
Thursday, Camden Head, Camden
Storytelling comic Matthew Highton brings his new solo show to London. ‘Good Luck Sleeping Jerks’ is an autobiographical show about Highton’s insomnia, relationship with his dad and a bunch of other stuff. This is a pay what you can show, so if you want to show the guy some love, put your hands in your pocket. Otherwise, if you’re feeling especially Frugl, check out the show and get your laughs for free.
Art Kane: A Retrospective
Monday – Saturday , Snap Galleries, Piccadilly Arcade
Aside from sporting a truly spectacular name, Art Kane knew what to do with a camera in his hand. The New York born photographer is responsible for many an iconic photograph of the musicians and models who became famous during the 60s and 70s such as Hendrix and The Who, amongst others. A bold visionary, his style is best described as amusingly surreal, vibrant in colour and beautifully erotic. His son Jonathan best sums his approach up “It’s not shooting the musician doing their thing. It’s shooting them doing his thing.” If you’re looking to satisfy your cultural craving this weekend, then this is the place to do it.
