Sugar, Spice, and Bittersweet "You fucking idiot- would it kill you to be careful so I don't have to worry about your safety all the time!?" (cass)
It’s only a lifetime of training and the upset-worried-scared that Steph’s body is screaming that keeps Cassandra’s slight amusement out of her expression. Cass is the last person whose safety Steph needs to be concerned about. Does she not understand that, yet? They both know how good Cass is, and that isn’t arrogance speaking. She was trained by the League since before she could walk, was molded into the perfect weapon, can predict her opponents’ next move before they even consciously decide on it.
Out of everyone in the family, Cass is the last person anyone should be worrying about.
But she’s scared Stephanie, and for that she does feel guilty. There had been a lot of men that Cassandra had just taken on single-handedly, not bothering to wait for backup. And while she had known she could handle it with ease, Steph apparently had not.
It is hard to remember sometimes, but she reminds herself of it now: they are a team. Cass is no longer alone. She has a team, a family, and her best friend, her sister, was frightened for her. Is still trembling, despite the way she tries to make her body say angry-frustrated-threat. So Cass wraps her arms around Stephane and hugs her in the hopes of offering some comfort. “Sorry.” She is. She can’t say it won’t happen again, because it probably will, but she can apologize and she can try.
