I've seriously seen so many posts along the lines of, "if ur otherkin ur an amazing ethereal being and if ur non otherkin ur a stinky piece of garbage!!!", and it's fucking toxic, tbh. Being "otherkin" doesn't make you special or better than anyone else?? Just accept everyone and don't bully people for something they can't control????? Bye???

You're going on like you have some sort of right to be so mad at me, and her. Like I (we) have done something to hurt you. We haven't. We have merely fallen in love, on a completely separate path to you. Not crossing, not once. But I wish you did have a legitimate reason. It would make everything easier to understand, and a hell of a lot better for me. Making me seem like a bad guy. You know what, I wish I was. I wanted her so badly that night, I will admit. Nothing came of it- not for that night. But I wish it did. I wish I didn't just hold her hand.

  also, i just learned that there was a hazel grace cosplayer (of john green's the fault in our stars) at perth supanova this weekend.

  i didn't see her. but apparently she'd gone for accuracy and included a fake oxygen tank.

  i don't have cancer. i can't imagine the pain and heartache that is endured by those who do suffer from cancer. but as someone who has lost a family member to cancer, and has had one more diagnosed within the last year -- and as someone who purports a standard of common decency when it comes to the sensitive issue of terminal illness robbing young people of their lives -- i think this is hugely insensitive.

  cancer isn't zombism. it's not a fictional state of being. it's a reality for far too many people. regardless of whether hazel grace is fictional, the illness from which she suffers is not. cosplaying a cancer patient is not okay. by incorporating a fake breathing apparatus  into a costume, you are appropriating the hardship of those who legitimately need one. 

  i cannot be personally offended by this, but i can be outraged on behalf of those i know who have experienced the reality of cancer. irrespective of my feelings towards the work of john green, this shit should not happen.
