Geván (Manga project)

A few months ago, I drew this pages for a manga contest made by Norma Editorial, (a spanish publishing house). It’s a short fantasy/action story about a girl trying to save his best friend of dying because of a horrible curse and all the troubles they find in the way.

Sadly (kinda), the story didn’t make it to the final round X’D but honestly, I’m not surprised or really sad about that. Though I’ve been working on this story for months, in the end I made everything rushed and improvised (script, art, character design), so I’m sure I messed up a few things. However, I don’t see this as a failure, but an oportunity. Now I can work on this project more freely and calmly with no restrictions, and I’m really excited about it.

My plan is to start publishing this story next year as a webcomic, but before that, I just wanted to show you this first version ^u^ Tell me what you think about it and wait for some sketches of the characters in the future.

Oh, and don’t worry, my other projects are still going. I don’t know how the hell I’m gonna do to all this at the same time, but hey!! It’ll be fun to find that out… or maybe not… oh well!!! :’D

TV Review: Space Sheriff Gavan (Toei, 1982-1983)

Makku, una organización criminal que busca conquistar todo el universo, se ha encontrado con un obstáculo a sus planes. Don Horror, líder de dicha organización, observa a la Tierra como el punto clave para su éxito, y comienza su misión para subyugar la misma a sus antojos. Sin embargo, el no contó con que la Unión Galáctica Espacial enviaría su mejor unidad: Space Sheriff Gavan.

Tanto como un detective de los mejores, así como un terrícola, Gavan luchará con todo lo que posee para detener las casi imbatible fuerzas de Makku, cuales tienen un artefacto capaz de alterar el espacio-tiempo para triplicar las fuerzas de sus secuaces.

Siendo el primer Metal Hero, y el primer Space Sherrif, Gavan luchaba con extraterrestres de mil y un formas con mil y un habilidades; cuales era derrotados en su máximo potencial aumentado. Cabe mencionar que también pilotaba una nave dragón, Gavion, cual destrozaba a las naves enemigas ferozmente.

Space Sheriff Gavan fue el claro precursor de una saga de héroes fuera del marco de Shotaro Ishinomori (Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, etc.); mas se convirtió en un ícono de las series Tokusastu con sus batallas e historia propias de la ciencia ficción japonesa.
