Collecting the Gewehr 98 and Clones After WW1 & The Disarming of the Peo...
This very beautiful German Gewehr 98 rifle belonged to a German soldier who was made a prisoner of war. The French soldier who captured him threw the bolt away and hit the stock against the wall to break it, thus making the rifle useless.
All the remaining pieces have matching numbers, and it was made at the Manufacture of Spandau in 1906.
A beautiful piece that has lived through the First World War.
Favorite Battlefield 1 weapon
Gewehr 98 infantry rifle. Making good use with the scout class using this rifle. Popping flares and holding defensive positions backed up with a HE bomb near doorways/other openings where enemies try to get to me through. Ballroom Blitz, my squad and I held advantageous positions on the wall of the chateau overlooking D flag for the enemy. The rest of the team held C and the Chateau itself as well as ran between A and B to keep it ours. We held this position for a good portion of the match until we lost C and the enemy flanked us. Spawning in on B flag I kept using the Gewehr to spot and take down snipers and medics from afar. Enemy support and assault players being taken down by he rest of the team as they advanced. We retook C and D but soon D flag was contested and we fell back to the Chateau where, even though we held C, the building itself was largely contested so I had to remain away from the building. Enemy airship spawns in so I get in an attack plane and press onto it. Occasionally bombing tanks and enemy defenses and popping flares to assist my teams attacks. All in all we won, and although I don't remember my KD I was near the top of the leaderboards. Great match.
More photos, more Euros. Once again, I know pretty much nothing about these guys, only that they're probably Austro-Hungarian, this is between 1916ish and 1918 (probably two different dates for the photos) and one of those guys is my great-great-grandad. Or something like that.
