32. Name three of your favorite fanfic writers?

I agonized over this question for weeks! It felt like picking your favorite classmates from your cooking class 😅 There are hundreds amazing writers out there, in many different fandoms, and everyone has something to offer at their respective fan community. So, from the top of my head, I'd say @karmahope, Crow and you, love~ 😘

41. Do you tend to reread fics or are you a one-and-done kind of person?

I'd say it depends on the fic. Sometimes I'd be satisfied with reading it just once. Others I'd want to read it again and again, or even just revisit it after some time when I'm in the mood for it. I definitely reread my own completed fics lol

58. What part of the writing process do you enjoy the most? (Brainstorming, outlining, writing, editing etc)

Certainly brainstorming and outlining. Both tend to be a double-edged sword though, as in sometimes it will be super easy, and others I'll have to wrack my brain for weeks to figure something out.

44 — what mistakes do you keep making no matter how many times your beta corrects you?

i don’t really beta my fics that often, but i do write professionally, and one thing i really hate is when you break a sentence dialogue with a speech tag, you have to put a lowercase letter at the start of the next bit of dialogue

“So,” she said by way of example, “it looks like this.”

i hate that. so i try to get all my speech tags to end in full stops or to begin the next bit of speech with things they have to be capitalised, like names. also, if i’m putting something in apostrophes right before a comma, i think it looks better if the comma is after the apostrophe ‘like this’, even though it’s incorrect

54 — what’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?

getting to the really juicy emotional scenes!! impassioned arguments, desperate wretched fights, devastated pleas for help—all the emotional turmoil. i can just get going and write the dialogue or even the whole scene all in one go

i’m getting close to one of those scenes in toy soldiers and i’m so pumped because it’s a scene i’ve been excited for for ages and i haven’t told anyone about it

73 — what do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?

i don’t know if there’s anything especially unique about what or how i write. i’m quite good at writing fast, and i average about 1500w/hr if I know what needs to happen in a given chapter, but if I had to pick a standout about my actual writing, i would say my enduring love of psychological introspection. i like breaking characters down and looking at the pieces and making them reflect on themselves

🪐 ⇢ name three good things going on in your life right now

Hmmm I'm about to start in a new working place, my recent fic is well-reserved beyond any expectations I might have had, and I finally overcame the cold I got after the trip with my mother to Bucharest. (My life is pretty boring haha 😅)

🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character

I don't really know if any opinions I might have are unpopular or if I'm simply projecting on the characters too hard. That being said, I'd die on the hill of "Bakugou is incapable of being a playboy casanova that has a mile-long list of past partners". People can have their fun, but I just can't see it lol 🫣

🍦 ⇢ name three good things about a character you hate

Hate is a strong word tbh. Usually, if I'm not head-over-heels for a character, I tend to be neutral about them. Even with villains that are made to be hated, I only jokingly wish the worst for them lol. At the end of the day, all fictional characters are written by their creator(s) to serve some kind of purpose in the story. So, I prefer to focus on the characters I like rather than bother actively hating on any 🤔

🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?

When there are so many typos and grammar errors it's basically unreadable. Maybe it's hypocritical of me, considering English isn't my native language either, but it feels like they couldn't ever bother to put the text through some autocorrect word processor at least. So, why should I give them the benefit of a doubt, ya know?

☁️ Cloudy - What inspired you to start writing your WIP? (or in general)

To be fair, this is a bit of a complicated question. I seem to consider most of my WIPs as active and current, simply because I will rotate them in my mind like a rotisserie chicken over months (or years) one or more at the same time.

But there is a common consensus in the case of personal projects (instead of fics that I have written for events or gifts). Inspiration will come from the most random source and is always accompanied by a "what if...?" question. Then it snowballs from there like the fastest avalanche on this planet.

There is no fandom or ship I have written about so far that didn't start this way. It's so obvious that even I can see the signs, clear as day, nowadays lol 😂

So, to give you an example, this is how I got really into DCMK and Kaishin in particular. Firstly, I opened the fandom wiki (since I had only watched MK 1412 at the time, thus some of the DetCo characters I was coming across in fics were new to me). I read there that although characters are shared between the Magic Kaito and Detective Conan series, they are essentially two different universes with separate rules (which in conclusion has characters literally NOT EXISTING in one of them). Not to mention the fact that it's uncertain whether KID knows Conan is Shinichi in the actual manga canon of the series (unlike what the movies will have you believe). In turn, this finally leads me to this question:

"What if, when Shinichi returns from being Conan, notices there is a disparency between his memories of KID's involvement in his life and everyone else's memories of him. He tries to find the truth, but slowly comes to realize that the difference is so big that it can only be accounted for as a parallel universe existing alongside his, and has to ask himself the question Which version of this guy is my thief?"

Suffice it to say, this was the very first WIP I started writing for this fandom, and it unfortunately still remains unfinished. I want it to be a one-shot, but it's probably gonna be a long one-shot (given the subject matter). I also kinda overthought about whether I wanna have this fic as my first published one in this fandom (since it's a bit odd and niche and it turned out deeply personal somehow).

I guess that's a question for future me 🫣
