i was just talking to @foxmagpie and @pynkhues about the bts courtroom pics and have decided to inflict this for instance on y’all as well.

picture this: rio’s on trial and at the eleventh hour his team produces the gun that now has annie’s fingerprints on it. now imagine beth and rio have been hooking up throughout the season and maybe some of those walls have started crumbling but now maybe we get a shot of beth realizing in real time that he’s sacrificing her sister and maybe we get a shot of rio watching beth realize what’s happening and then maybe we get a beat of both of them absorbing that beth’s uncrossable line has been crossed officially closing out the arc started in 305 when rio walked right up to that line and turned away from it to go for lucy instead.

something about the car scene with nick and rio is screaming nick is controlling him. like rio looked so defeated when he said add it to the list

this ep really went hard! as! fuck! with rio’s tragic backstory and tbh i’m incredibly emo about it. he was a sweet kid who made a stupid mistake that his fuckin’ brother used as an opportunity to get ahead by shoving rio into a system that’s been built to ensure he’s going to have to fight tooth and nail to get out of and even then probably won’t ever at all especially when his own family is encouraging him to stay in it. it adds so much weight to the lonely at the top line from s2 and honestly the longer i think about it the more upset i get. i know not everyone’s gonna agree with this statement and that’s fair but i think it’s a deeply tragic, complex and human backstory.

i’m horrifically fascinated by his relationship with nick bc i do not think it is positive at all, but i also don’t think it’s negative either, i think it’s twisted and complicated in a way that only messed up family stuff can be. idk if i would go as far as to say nick is outright controlling him but definitely maneuvering him. while i don't think that rio was playing beth the whole ep i do think that nick was and while it maybe wasn’t a precisely plotted out plan (though it could’ve been i suppose, we don’t know enough about nick yet to say one way or another but he’s clearly smart and unscrupulous), i think he went over to her house specifically looking to get between her and rio to make sure that rio stays free of any influence that might rival his.

anyway, i hope the season ends with nick fertilizing a community garden.

#was just reading emilykolburn's excellent post and i don't want to tag on and hijack #but it got my gears turning in a different but related direction #and if nick's dying at the end of the season #which doesn't seem unlikely #i think it'll be beth #if for no reason whatever major finale event goes down beth's gonna have the most active role in it #and bc the if you want to be the king you've gotta kill the king line was always pointed at beth #and this allows them to pay it off without it being about rio #it would also create a v interesting personal situation for beth and rio #not saying i think it's the best option #and it is certainly not without some major optics issues #but it doesn't seem off the table #i'm rambling ignore me #godammit i really need to GET OFF THE INTERNET #gg spec #nbc good girls #shut up meg

"ruby’s like i am mad and i’m disappointed" I cannot wait for this scene! All of their faces, including Dave's, in the few seconds of the promo are amazing! I'm sure that, if Beth says anything, she'll brush it off as she had to to distract him and that she had to remove the wire. They might not confront her, but I doubt Ruby and Annie would completely buy it. Do you think there actually will be a scene with Rio or that they'll realize there's no point, Rio barely knows they exist?

that said, for as much as i want it for my own personal amusement, i don’t actually think we’ll get a scene of either ruby or annie meeting with rio simply bc what on earth could they possibly come up with to set that up? it’s not like last time when he was fully in business. he’s lying low, there’s basically nothing they could use to lure him out.

i mean, i guess aside from telling him they’ve got like, a note for him from beth or something. annie’d be like i hear my sister likes you and rio’s literally standing next to her before she’s finished the sentence, still on the phone.
