Yes, it's a tuba-based, "Dungeons and Dragons"-themed parody of "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons. Lyrics below:
d20 Damage (with apologies to "Imagine Dragons")
We’re waking up, we drew our maps We leveled up our characters We painted up our miniatures [mmmm] We’re cracking up, we’re goofing off We’re ignoring the campaign plot This is it: the DM’s pissed Whoa
The DM thought he wrote a hard campaign Enough to last us through the day Time to start a new game, start a new game Time to start a new game, a new game
Whoa, whoa d20 damage, d20 damage Whoa, whoa d20 damage, d20 damage
We made our camp, we donned our clothes He set us up an ambush, I suppose He's killing off our characters Whoa
We’re breaking in, we’re goofing off We ignored the campaign plot This is it: the DM’s pissed Whoa We woke up dead, they've broken all our bones Took an arrow in my knee Now I’ve got a dead mage, got a dead mage Welcome to a dead mage, to a dead mage Whoa, whoa d20 damage, d20 damage Whoa, whoa d20 damage, d20 damage We’ve been spending most our lives livin’ in a gamer’s paradise Now he’s eaten all our dice, and that’s the end of playing nice
Whoa, whoa d20 damage, d20 damage Whoa, whoa d20 damage, d20 damage
Nerd For A Living presented two panels at GeekGirlCon 2014 in Seattle, Washington.
These talented ladies shared their professional experience in a number of nerdy industries, including advice and insights on how to create your own career path to a packed, enthusiastic crowd at GeekGirlCon.
The full report is 3,783 words long.
tl;dr version: it's a really good local show, though probably not worth it for those traveling from afar. Pre-con communication and management leave a lot to be desired, but on-site staff are fantastic. Wish they'd move AA back upstairs with the rest of the exhibitors.
What's Next for PANOPTIC?
Our convention season has come to a close and we couldn't have asked for a better way to end the year than with Geek Girl Con 2014. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booths at Rose City Comic Con and Geek Girl Con this year to show support and excitement over PANOPTIC! If you picked up one of our limited edition printed teasers, sound off your thoughts!
So, what's next? We've gotten great feedback on our printed teaser so far and are still planning for PANOPTIC to launch as a free-to-read webcomic during the first half of 2015. We are so excited to share more of the universe within PANOPTIC and introduce the full cast of characters driving the story. We will keep an age-diverse audience in mind and do our best to represent a world with greater racial, cultural, gender, sexual, and body diversity. Especially as queer, multiracial people of color ourselves, we are always striving to include more complex and accurate representations of marginalized identities in science fiction.
We are posting updates here on our blog throughout the journey so check in with us often for works in progress, behind the scenes, illustrations, goodies, and more!
As always, thanks so much for your support! Oh, and one more thing...
Smile. You're on camera.
