what was his relationship with his parents like? did he even know his parents? was one manipulative in the relationship and maybe that's why he thinks obsessing over maddie is okay? deets.
Writing about The Man who Conquered Troy || Accepting
There’s a few ways I could go with this as a writer because we never get any insight into Vlad’s past other than the fact that he has been in love with Maddie since college, and considering that we can properly assume that Vlad wasn’t always a billionaire, there are several roads to take.
Personally, I like the idea of Vlad coming from a still wealthy off family, which explains the personality and flair– lawyer father and head lead of a company mother who were never much around in the big, empty house where they lived in. His mother loved the classics, which is why she named her son Vlad, after The Dark Prince, and while he has never felt much of the love and care and warmth he was somewhat content, albeit lonely.
He saw love and caring and compassion in movies and literature, and in the media he consumed he always associated big, extravagant emotions with trueness of the heart, thereby equivalating the notion that adoration to the point of obsession was equal or greater than love. Of course, that is not excusing any of his behaviour towards Maddie or Jack, but at least it is an explanation behind it.
If Persephone was willing to bite the pomegranate that bind to the underworld and become its queen– therebuy making her the king’s bride– why couldn’t he have someone to choose him like that as well? Where was his story of Death and The Maiden? A phantom of a man, living in a hollow shell where his heart once used to be– he becomes cold and detached, away from all other forms of love and acceptance.
If it is not his version of adoration and adulation, to which into his mind it equals to love, then he will have it or none at all.
