I've been playing with my tiny "those six guys at the beginning of the day 4 survive because of ☆a crazy happenstance☆" The Long Walk au and how absolutely delicious it would be if the survival happened just a few hours after Hank's death.

Like obviously there'd be Barkovitch at his most hysterical and paranoid stage, fully aware that any of the survivors would trade him for Hank, obviously, but also for Curly, or Harkness, or fucking Rank, anyone, in a heartbeat. He lives, yet no one wants him to.

But the most important thing. Art would live knowing that actually, yeah, he could have potentially saved Hank if he had just been able to make him keep walking. Just a few hours. If he could have made him walk just a few hours more, he could have saved him.
