12. chest kiss

his knees touch the others as they sit across each other, both of their pairs of legs drawn close to their chest, arms wrapped around them. baekhyun doesn’t even know why they mimic each other, eyes locked onto the others.

baekhyun parts his lips, feeling the need to say something but no words leave them, spill past them and so he closes them again, pressing them into a tight line as he breaks their eye contact for the first time in a long while –he doesn’t even know how long they’ve been sitting here in silence, but baekhyun enjoys it.

besides this little feeling of something bubbling up inside his stomach, he feels otherwise peaceful and content.

but it seems like that’s what jongin’s presence does to him for some reason.

“say it”, jongin says and baekhyun looks up in surprise, his voice sounding so distant and unreal after all this time of saying nothng at all. “you wanted to ask something.”

and baekhyun nods slightly. “do you know what to do against a broken heart? what helps against it?”, he finally asks, only in a whisper as if he’s too scared someone else beside the other would hear it. but jongin just shakes his head cluelessly.

“but i know”, baekhyun says, a faint smile curving onto his lips, before he moves a little, hands letting to of their grip around his legs and they feel stiff and hurt, but he presses two fingers against his lips, before he leans foward, putting them onto jongin’s chest, right there where his heart sits behind his rib cage.

the smile grows a tiny bit wider as baekhyun tilts his head to the side, a little flustered over his action.

“a kiss.”

“how surprising, i want the same,” jiyeon agrees, her eyelashes batted in the most innocent way she could ever pull off, probably standing way too close to her superior. “but oppa, can you really say that to a barista? i doubt she would be able to fulfill that request of yours," she asks, her tone filled with mimicked concern as she points her gaze at the woman standing behind the café’s counter, obviously seeming completely loss at words regarding the current situation.

poor girl, she has no idea just whom she is dealing with. jiyeon reaches out to link an arm with jongin, hoping that he wouldn’t push her away, a (hopefully) friendly smile flashed at the barista. “i’m sorry about him, he’s a bit desperate. an iced americano and an espresso, please.”

« dusk til dawn »

    Dusk had just settled, marking the start of Nina’s favourite time of day; nightfall. Dark nights made for dark shadows, perfect hideouts in her opinion. The moon was out and bright, leaving plenty of light to help her see whomever decided to go for an evening walk. Though she wasn’t exactly out to hide this time, rather she was looking for someone. That someone being Jongin, her partner in crime, and one of the three leaders of Eos. Nina assumed he’d been out doing his “hobo thing” (whatever that was),  maybe the stench would give him away. She frankly didn’t understand his fascination of being dirty and sleeping on the streets. Pursing her lips, she walked along the edge of the roof, looking down to see exactly where he’d gone to now. “Come out, come out wherever you are.”, she muttered, jumping to the neighbouring building.

    Crouching down on the edge of the roof, she spotted a familiar figure. “Finally.”, she sighed and shook her head. Jumping between the brick walls of the two buildings she made her way down to ground level. Standing up, she brushed of whatever dust had collected on her black jeans and stood up— surveying the area close by. “Alright, exactly how many street corners do I have to search to find you?” Nina removed her feline mask, arching an eyebrow at the younger Ghoul. “We have things to do today and not that much time either, so let’s get a move on.” She eyed his appearance, grimacing slightly. “Please tell me you showered before you came here today.” Nina leaned in towards him,  sniffing the air around him ever so slightly.

the smell of spilled cheap alcohol is almost enough to overpower the stench of sweat and drugs in the air, alpha notes as he idly swishes around the mystery drink in his cup. it’s another boring party, a costume one at that, and no one seems to appreciate the double meaning in his costume. he, at least, thinks it’s pretty amusing to dress up as jack the ripper, given his rather vicious tendencies. frat parties aren’t usually alpha’s scene, given the general greasiness of frat boys and their inability to mix their fucking drinks properly- but they are easy lays and easier kills, so he settles sometimes. 

he stifles a bored yawn into his hand and shifts his gaze to the people dancing and yelling around him, as unsuspecting and drunk off their asses as they would be any other night. it’s kind of cute. makes alpha feel all the more excited at the prospect of picking off victims and slinking away into areas where the music will drown out their screams as little more than sounds of pleasure. he’s about to push off the wall and help himself to the guy who keeps shooting him those hazy bedroom eyes, when the scent of another ghoul much closer than they were before catches his attention. 

when he turns to inspect the approaching ghoul, he’s met with an all too pleasant surprise. another jack the ripper costume. how fuckin’ coincidental. alpha can’t help the grin that curls his lips upwards or the throaty chuckle that slips past them. what are the goddamn odds, really? 

he can tell the other guy is looking to stir up trouble, just as he is (and were alpha slightly less intoxicated, he might have been able to better place a name to the face) and, well, there’s no faster form of camaraderie. he looks at least as strong as alpha is, if not more, which only spurs alpha on when an idea hits.

“hey,” alpha starts, eyes trailing along the finer details of the man’s costume. “nice get-up.”

there’s a heartbeat where he almost hesitates, almost keeps his idea to himself, but that wicked glint in the other ghoul’s eye has any second-thoughts disappearing in an instant. 

“you wanna... y’know...” he jerks his head in the general direction of the partygoers, a slow smirk spreading across his lips. alpha doesn’t bother to ask any more directly than that, lest they draw unwanted attention to themselves before the fun can even begin.

a wisp of smoke slips through her lips, partly finished cigarette between her fingers. she watches the ashes fall onto the clay tray, disinterest evident in her eyes. the bar was packed more than usual, which was responsible for the annoyed scowl on her face. that and the lack of attention she was getting from her friend.

she’s almost tempted to flick the remains of her cigarette at him. instead, she simply blows a puff of smoke his way, pressing the tip against the surface of the ashtray afterwards.

she takes a glance at the direction he’s looking at, only to roll her eyes. “oi, quit gawking at them, would you?” they had come here to talk about actual important stuff, not for dinner. she’d taken precious time out of her nonexistent schedule for this, yet here she was, being ignored.  

she takes another glance at them and scoffs. “besides, you can do better.”

bloody mess.

it had been past the time that she had suppose to leave and be back at the gourmet before they met back up or when madame wonders where she was. but to be honest, ahreum wasn’t in the mood to lock herself inside the house to study like a good college student or do whatever normal teenagers do (at least not at the moment). her blood was boiling yet not enough to completely have her self destruct in a matter of seconds because one class discussion was enough to make her leave in the middle of it. 

she’s used to working there after years of it, the stench still bothered her but the bodies was something that was seen everyday, a mess that she makes while they were forced to clean it but overall, she felt no regret... no sympathy for these cruel actions that she learned to commit. today was really just no different but she never expected to see a rather beaten male deep into the back alleyway surrounded by human scums. 

usually she wouldn’t be in the mood but having one ghoul verses many others who are different would have set her off anyway. it was a good thing that she was keeping a dagger under her dress in case she needed it for situations like this. ahreum would much rather keep the order around, even if it’s just her...  mere human.

blades of a knife cuts deep and blood drips down fast while hitting the cold concrete and soon enough she started seeing bodies falling. but all her eyes could focus on was the male lying there, frozen. “are you dead? should i call investigators?” she’s shamelessly teasing.
