03. nose kiss

his face cupped with both of his hands, cheeks resting in his palms, baekhyun watches the girl sitting on the other side of the table silently. he’d say something, but the last time he tried ten minutes ago she just shushed him off rudely.he opted to just pout at her like the sulking little kid he can be from time to time until she pays him attention again and notices that he’s offended by her harsh action, but she just continues typing away on her laptop, kiko’s eyes literally glued onto the screen.why did she even bring her laptop with her?like, why did she invite him out when she just planned to do some work.it’s not like baekhyun is the most social person in general, but he likes spending time with his friends, likes seeing them and it’s a nice chance to just sit around somewhere, to relax and talk, but kiko isn’t even letting him talk at all.a slight sigh slips past baekhyun’s lips and his gaze flickers to the cup of coffee that’s sitting untouched next to the girl. another sigh comes from him, takes his own cup to empty it of its content, setting it back down noisily.“kiko”, he says, but she ignores him.so, he gets up, slipping his jacket back over his shoulders. “kiko“, baekhyun’s voice is more firm this time and she looks finally up at him, confusion visible on her face –baekhyun smiles slightly at that; seems like she was completely lost in her work. “i have to leave”, he says, getting up from his chair, before leaning over to her, pressing his lips softly against her nose for a quick peck. “take a break in between all that writing okay? your coffee is also cold for sure.”

days off from the cafe are golden gems that even the workaholic hana ends up looking forward to them. it’s saturday night and tomorrow is the first sunday off she has in what seems like forever. she’s been working straight seven day week shifts since one of the cafe employees quit about a month and a half ago and for the most part, hana didn’t mind doing so since she didn’t have anything else to do anyways but she also isn’t going to pass up a free day just like that. 

dressed in all white, from the midriff-bearing crop top, the faux leather leggings and stiletto ankle booties, the intricate golden detail of her mask is the only pop of color in her ensemble. she looks like she’s dressed to kill but that part of her has already been buried in the memories of the past and tonight, all she wants is some clean good fun. 

more than a few pairs of eyes turn when she finally makes her way into the exclusive club. the bouncer easily granting her access on face value alone and she kisses his cheek with a giggle before disappearing among the throngs of bodies gyrating on the dance floor. she’ll get her own fill of dancing later; for now, she needs a few drinks to loosen up and she grins when she spots a familiar figure at the bar. “i need a drink and fast. just trying to make my way from the walkway to the bar wiped me out. i can’t believe i forgot how packed this place got.”

she quickly clutches her heart, deciding to act far more dramatic than their current situation called for. despite knowing this fact for a while, sooyoung hardly saw the point in missing out on such a fun opportunity by treating it seriously. with eyes widening, her tone is nothing short of distraught when she speaks up. “wait, what? what do you mean he ‘isn’t real’?”

shaking her head ever so slightly, she’s smirking before she can even stop herself. damn it, she was hoping to keep the act up for as long as she possibly could— shame. still, maybe she could play from this angle, one way or another. “hmph. calling it now— you’re lying. i think i’d know by now if he didn’t exist, but nice try, really.” as she speaks, it’s nearly impossible not to break out into a fit of laughter, yet she somehow manages. “how else would you explain all of the presents that he leaves each year? it’s not like they can just put themselves there,” she laughs, shaking her head at the thought. “because that’d make sense, right?” sarcasm, you’ve just got to love it.

–4. forehead kiss

kiko has always intrigued alpha. from the way she moves, to the way she presents herself in every day society- so stable, so serene in spite of her countless murders, in spite of everything. really, it should make him bitter. he should resent her for being able to control herself in ways alpha has yet to learn. yet, for some reason, all that he feels when he looks at her is admiration. 

if he were to cannibalize, he’s certain the little bits of sanity he has left would slip through his fingertips and he’d get himself killed faster than he’s already on track to. thinking about it sends a little thrill down his spine, has his mouth watering for reasons he doesn’t quite want to think about (he’s always been self destructive, but he’s not eager to go out unless it’s with a bang). 

he’s drawn back from his thoughts when she shifts in her seat, hazy gaze focusing once more. she looks so at peace, writing away in this sickeningly quaint owl cafe- it’s not alpha’s scene, god knows, but if this is where she prefers to hang out then so be it- and he almost feels embarrassed at his own eagerness to meet up with her again. it’s probably a little bit unhealthy to be so fucking interested in another person, but alpha has always adored habits that leave him dizzy. 

of course, his free time dwindles all too quickly, as does the amount of time she’ll allot him to annoy her, and he rises from his seat. he’s not quite sure what possesses him to do it, but he’d later blame it on a need to extend his gratefulness to her for allowing him to spend time in her presence, when he bends at the waist and presses a gentle kiss to her forehead. 

“thanks for putting up with me again today, hope writing’s goin’ as well as you want it do.” 

with that, he’s out the door, walking a bit faster than he normally would, should she decide to throw something his way for the display of affection. for some reason, there’s a feeling of content that settles in his chest as he rounds the corner. maybe it’ll be a good day after all.

The gallery was filled with ghouls from high society. Gourmet coffee was served around in test tubes, a theme of mad scientist going around in the gallery before the picks of the day will be shown on stage. Jiyong was not interested in playing auctioneer today, hence he was enjoying himself seated a few stories above the crowd, silently sipping the crimson liquid from the wine glass.

Of course... It was not wine he was drinking.

What was meant to be a routine night however turned out to be quite peculiar, courtesy of someone sneaking into the building. Pulling down his mask down over his face, the smiling dragon covering his features.

He jumped upwards to the rafters, where he spotted the intruder. She was clearly female, he noticed and he moved over to her in a friendly manner.

“Hello.” Amusement laced in his words, as he squat beside her. “Did you sneaked in here as well?”

She had no idea where the idea came from, and why she thought the other was going to do it. The only sign left that she had eaten an ice cream was the napkin that came wrapped around it. The paper’s destiny, also known as a trashcan, stood some dozens of feet away. Her free hand reached for the other’s arm so they could both stop. A bright smile took over her face to announce her quickly developed thought. Though she let go of the arm a second after touching it, not wanting to forceful.

“Come on, let’s have a race to the trashcan!” Nayeon pointed at the other’s own napkin hiding behind a tight grasp. Then she pointed at her own between her fingers. The girl did not give much time of thought before she was already standing in position. Some people may see her acts as childish, but she simply saw it as living the moment. “I’m going to count it down, okay?”

“Fuck it, I ain’t runnin,” She almost tripped. All that energy she had put into pushing herself forward had to go somewhere and Nayeon decided the best place to go was the floor. It was without thinking, but thankfully she did not hit the ground before straightening her back and looking back at the one behind her. Her lips formed an annoyed pout before she squeezed the napkin inside a fist. “Language!”

he’s neither defensive or argumentative on topics that he probably should be. at least for a young man of his age, being called out of his fashion sense--or lack there of--should be felt as an insult. but instead he simply stares blankly at the older female, lashes brushing against his cheeks as he slowly closes his eyes and stares down at his plain white t-shirt and black sweats. the articles of clothing should have been sent to retirement long ago but for whatever reason he keeps them.

he shrugs, quarter-lidded hues answering kiko’s words with an unspoken “and?” before he resumes playing on his phone.

he wasn’t in any mood to change and certainly she wasn’t going to start a fashion show and start picking out things for him to wear, at least that’s what he had hoped.

“i’m sure that’s exactly why you’d be locked up,” alpha snorts, stirring his coffee idly. it’s been weeks since he was first able to finally, finally get a chance to sit down with kiko, and so far she’s done nothing but supply him with sarcastic answers to genuine questions. it’s driving him up a fucking wall. 

yet he would never even dream of expressing that irritation, because not only is she capable of killing him without so much as breaking a sweat, but he’s also determined to get onto her good side. he’s pretty sure the absolute last way to get onto someone’s good side is to continuously piss them off and then get frustrated over it. positive, even. 

“but really, there’s gotta be some kind of merit to all the stories people tell about you,” he continues after taking another sip of his drink, eyes sparkling in delight. “i mean, there’s no way you get a reputation like that from just having killer brows, y’know?”

her calm demeanor coupled with the quaint place she chooses to do her writing at would normally deter alpha from believing in all the hushed rumors. normally. but he knows better than to play into that- spotting danger from a mile away is his forte, after all.
