RP Event: Ghost!Dino

Your heart still ached whenever Galdin Quay came into view. Even though the world was surrounded in darkness, and things were just falling to pieces, you had good memories there. 

You blamed that stupid Journalist-turning-Jeweler for those fond memories. 

A soft smile pulled at the corners of your mouth as you began to walk up the boardwalk - the only sound was the water moving to shore. 

The Demons in the area seemed to avoid the now abandoned resort, and your flashlight as you walked up the steps to the restaurant, your eyes darted here and there, ever on the alert for things regardless. 

You sighed softly as you started down the steps towards the ferry’s dock. Only to catch the movement of something out of the corner of your eye. You paused, your eyes darting about before you huffed, blaming the moonlight causing the shadows to make you jumpy.

You frowned, noticing his bench was somewhat askew.  Shaking your head you slowly walked up, and pushed it back where it belonged, and took a seat, in his spot.

You gently pet your fingers along the worn and tattered cushion, blaming the elements on it’s appearance before you lifted your head a bit to look out at the dark water. Your words on that day rang again in your head. “Don’t die on me!” and you shook your head frowning a bit, before you looked back down at the dock, and sighed. 

“Don’t be sad, Doll...”

You blinked, your eyes widening as your head snapped up. “Dino?!” 

You looked around, and stood up from the bench, taking a step forward. You waited, and listened, only to scoff at yourself. The water, and the area had to be playing tricks on you. 

Feeling a sudden chill, you rubbed your arms out of instinct, before you turned to look back at the bench, and went wide eyed, as he was sitting before you, resting on that bench, his elbows on his knees as he was leaning forward, watching you with a soft smile.

His form looked a little ethereal, and he tilted his head lightly before he smirked. 

“The look on your face makes it look like you’ve seen a ghost...”

👻 ~ Carmen (Oh dear, this is going to hurt right in the feelios)

As her soft gasp reached his ears he chuckled softly, and got to his feet. He remained still a moment watching her violet eyes grow wide before he gently pressed his hands into his pockets, and took a few steps toward her. 

“Ya know, Doll…” he let his words trail off as he stood at her side, his hazel eyes glancing down at her as he smiled. “There was much I wanted to tell ya that day, thank you, being one of them.” 

When her brow furrowed with confusion he chuckled again, and let his eyes look out at the horizon. “You did exactly as ya said you were gonna do. You didn’t leave me alone.” 

When he heard her breath hitch he let himself glance over at her, her eyes slowly filling with tears before she opened her mouth to speak, then snapped it shut, only to open it again. He laughed at her softly. 

“I do suppose that I was always one to leave ya a bit speechless, huh Doll?”

He watched her blink at him before she huffed, and a tear rolled down her cheek, her voice trembling a little as she spoke. 

“T-thank me? F-for what Dino-boy?” she gently let her hands cross, one over the other before she took a bit of a breath, then turned to look out at the horizon as he had. “I…I did the opposite of what I said…I left you alone…” she reached up, and played slowly with the small, what looked like a gem to him, at the hollow of her throat. 

“Mmn, that’s where your wrong Doll,” he spoke softly. “You didn’t let me die alone.” 

He heard her breath hitch again and he turned to look at her, tears streaming down her cheeks. He clicked his tongue gently, and reached out, wanting to wipe them away, but he frowned when his hand passed through her instead. He heaved a sigh as he let his hand fall back at his side. 

“Honestly Doll,” he smiled sadly before he sighed. “You kept your word. You stayed with me…even though I heard ya call me, and I watched your heart break in the process…”

He sighed but chuckled softly. “But then I saw somethin’ kinda amazing. I saw a woman grow stronger, more confident in who she is, even with that beanpole at your side,” he chuckled again as she huffed out a bit of a laugh at the long since mentioned nickname for her beau. “Plus, I saw her gain the boon of someone long forgotten, and if that doesn’t take guts…” 

He watched the sun start to peek along the horizon, and he sighed again. 

“Looks like your boys pulled it off Doll…”

He heard her sigh then sniffle, and softly choke back another sob. “I’m…sorry Dino-boy.”

He smiled to her, rather brightly. “Nah, ya got nothin’ at all to be sorry for Doll, I’ll see ya again, I’m sure.” he chuckled and moved closer, reaching up to gently brush a lock of hair back from her face, and smiled gently as her eyes went wide with surprise. 

“Take care of yourself, Doll. Stay safe.” he repeated his words to her again, and leaned in, letting his lips just brush barley against her forehead before his form started to fade from view…

👻 *sniff sniff* I remember that day so vividly T^T

He gave her a gentle smile as he watched her bring her hand up to her mouth, probably to stifle her own scream. “Well now, never knew I had that kind of an effect on ya…” 

He chuckled a bit then slowly got to his feet, pushing his hands into his pockets as he got closer. He paused however, when she took a step back and whimpered, screwing her eyes shut. He paused, remaining where he was before he spoke to her softly again. 

“C’mon babydoll, it’s alright….I promise.”

He watched her eyes snap open wide as she looked up at him, that tender smile still on his lips. “I promise, you’re not dreamin’, this isn’t a nightmare, and I’m not about to become a daemon before your eyes.”

He watched her tears flow down her cheeks and over her fingers, and he gave her a gentle, but pained smile, and moved closer. He gently reached out to take her hand only to go wide eyed as her hand passed through his. He frowned then, clenched his hand into a fist, and sighed. Looking down at his feet a moment he hummed, before he looked back up at her as her hand trembled. 

“Sorry Doll, much as I would like to, the astrals aren’t that kind…” 

“H-How?!” she suddenly snapped at him. “W-Why are you here?”

“Well,” he pushed his hands back into his pockets and tilted his head a little. “I guess I got to experience somethin’ I wasn’t quite ready to let go of.” he moved past her a little, standing not far from her side. 

“W-What? What do you mean?” she sniffled then turned to him, rubbing at her cheeks. “S-Spike…is it really you?”

He hummed softly, letting his eyes close a moment before he tilted his head to her. “You have no idea how long I’ve waited to hear ya call me that again…” and when another broken sob passed her lips he smiled gently. “Gods above, I wish for nothin’ more right now to take ya into my arms and comfort you Doll…but I can’t… and my time is limited…” 

He watched her lower her head again, and bite her lower lip. He sighed and looked out at the horizon then squinted as the sun started to peek it’s way back up into the sky. A genuine smile pulled at his lips, before he sighed softly again. 

“Looks like I don’t have to worry ‘bout ya as much now Doll, your boys pulled it off…”

When she looked up and her face started to get painted with the warmth of the sun he seemed to hold his breath, she was always so beautiful to him that she always took his breath away. He smiled, and turned to her, before he took a deep breath. 

“You said somethin’ to me Doll that day, do ya remember?” when she looked up at him, as her eyes flooded with tears again, she gave a slight nod of her head. He smiled more, and dipped his, bringing his lips close to her ear. 

“I’ll be waiting for you…when your time comes. But for now, enjoy this life. Live.” and when his voice cracked a little he drew back, and brushed his lips lightly against her cheek. “…I’ll be with you always, Doll. Cause I’m always right here.” and he placed a soft kiss against her temple.

“I love you, Momo. Always have, always will.” 

He then started to fade away, he gently reached up, and pressed his hand against her cheek, a teary smile crossing his features as he felt her warmth under his hand…

👻 ~Addilyn 😭

He couldn’t help the soft chuckle as she stood there wide eyed and surprised, her hands trembling a little as she seemed like she was afraid. He slowly rose up to his feet and took a step towards her, watching her take a step back. He paused. That was an unexpected reaction but one he was sure to have expected. 

“You’re not dreamin’ Doll…”

He smiled gently and watched her reach out towards him, tears streaming down her face. “H-How…?” she breathed softly. 

He chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. “Astrals gave me a day to come see ya.” 

“I-I saw…Dino, I-I saw y-you–”

He watched her bite her lip then reach further, only to have is expression turn pained as her hand passed through him and she stopped again, her breath catching in her throat. He sighed, and smiled to her sheepishly. 

“They told me I could visit…but I couldn’t stay…”

His expression softened as she gently drew her hand back, bringing it close to her chest as more tears ran down her face. “…Astrals,” he breathed softly. “What I wouldn’t give to be able to wipe your tears away.”  and out of instinct he reached for her, his thumb passing over and through her cheek and he huffed. “I guess they’re a bit more cruel than I thought they’d be.” 

With a sigh he moved to stand next to her, his head tilting as he looked out on the horizon, smiling a bit more as the sun had just started to peek out over the edge of the water. 

“Ah, so he finally did it…”

He watched her turn, and heard her breath catch again as the sun started to warm her face. Her eyes fluttered shut as she took a deep breath in, which caused him to smile. He leaned over, close to her ear and whispered.

“Means my time is even shorter than I thought Doll…” 

When her eyes snapped open and she looked at him he gave her a bright smile. “Told ya, I’d be here to see the sunrise with ya, no matter when it exactly happened.”

“D-Dino.. n-no not again, this is so cruel…y-you can’t…”

“You’re doing just fine Doll without me.” he huffed out a laugh, pushing his hands into his pockets gently. “And now, I know you’ll be even safer, I can wait for ya the proper way.” 

Her brow furrowed. “The proper way?”

He smiled, giving her a teary smile before he turned to her and once more, reached up, and cupped her cheek, his breath catching as he felt her warm skin under his hand. He huffed out a bit of a laugh at that and gave her a nod. 

“Yeah, I’ll see you when it’s your time Doll. Promise.” he leaned in then and gently kissed her cheek, managing to kiss away her tears before he stepped back, brushing his thumb against her cheek again before he let his hand fall away.

He smiled to her brightly then looked down, noticing that his form was fading the higher the sun rose in the sky…

👻 (Can I keep you.)

He sat there a moment longer as he let a charming smile play across his face before getting to his feet, his hands gently pushing down into his pockets. He watched her eyes widen further as he took a step towards her, his voice soft. 

“It’s good to see ya again Doll…”

A soft chuckle passed his lips at her gasp before she shook her head and clenched her fists at her side. He tilted his head a bit curious to her actions before he spoke again, a slight smirk pulling at the corner of his mouth. 

“I promise ya Doll, I am not another one of Ardyn’s illusions. I’m not here to mess with your head…”

He watched her slowly lift her eyes to him again, and gave her a gentle smile when he realized her eyes were filled with tears. He clicked his tongue a little and moved closer. “Don’t cry Doll, ya did enough of that the day I left ya…” he frowned a bit at that and sighed before he gently reached up, trying to pet his fingers against her cheek only to huff as his hand passed through her. 

“Six…shoulda known…” he laughed a bit bitterly at himself before he shook his head and looked out over the water. “…I am glad you’re doin alright though, Doll.” 

He smiled a bit more as she turned toward him. “A-Alright? Are you kidding me?!” he huffed out a bit of a laugh as she looked at him, almost angrily. “Do you know what I’ve gone through since–”

“Yes.” he stated gently, catching her off guard. “Been watchin’ over ya in a way, I can’t do much, but, I’ve seen you remember things, grow stronger, and closer to said Sunshine boy.” He smiled more to her then. “I saw the moment you finally remembered who ya were Doll.”

He looked back out at the horizon as a glint of the sunlight caught his eye. He smiled more and sighed a bit. 

“Looks like they did it…”

He turned back to her then, noticing the tears run down her face. He smiled softly, and gently tilted his head. “Don’t cry Doll, you’ve come a long way, even without your ol’ pal Dino at your side.” he chuckled softly. “Much as I wish I coulda been.”

He moved closer to her then, bringing his hand up and managing to wipe away the tear off her cheek with his thumb, he leaned closer, then gently let his lips brush against hers, kissing her gently before he drew back. “I’ve been wanting to do that for awhile… least I got to say I got the chance…” 

He chuckled then, and pet his thumb against her cheek as his form started to fade the more the sun rose in the air. “I’ll see ya again Doll…I promise.”

👻 ~* Honey *with unshed tears* :(

He smiled gently and heaved a deep sigh. “I’m sorry I left ya like that Doll…” he got to his feet and moved towards her. “But I guess at the same time, it was a good thing, right?” 

He watched her eyes blink slowly, and her tears slowly travel down her cheeks. She sucked in a deep breath and shook her head. 

“This isn’t real…y-you’re not real…” 

Dino hummed softly, moving to gently stand by her side. His head tilted a little in her direction as he gently pushed his hands into his pockets. “Maybe I am, maybe I’m not.” he chuckled then. “Perhaps this is a dream, one that I’m hopin’ lasts quite awhile.” 

He looked down at her, his hazel eyes dancing a bit before he huffed out a laugh watching her cry harder. He gently reached for her, trying to brush his knuckles gently against her cheek only to let his eyes close as his hand passed right through her. He knew the astrals weren’t that kind. He remained still a moment before he seemed to inhale deeply through his nose, then slowly drew his hand back. 

When he slowly opened his eyes, his smile grew brighter. “You and your sunshine boy have been on one hell of an adventure,” he looked out over at the water, and placed his hand back into his pocket. “One that’s almost over…” 

He watched her out of the corner of his eyes, as she wiped angrily at her cheeks then turned to him, her cheeks puffing up in anger. “How dare you!” 

That caught him sort of by surprise before he turned more towards her, his brow lifting. 

“H-How dare you sacrifice yourself for me!” her voice cracked and his brow knitted together. “I-I didn’t… you d-didn’t need…. Mr.Dino… D-Dino…” 

“Any gentleman would do what I did Doll. I’m sure your sunshine boy has shown ya that time, and time again on your adventures right?” he smiled gently. “Hell, I’ve seen him do it…” he laughed a bit then and shook his head. “But I’ve also watched ya Doll, watched ya grow stronger.” he nodded then, and smiled as the sun just started to poke it’s head over the horizon. 

“You are quite the formitible little lady now, aren’t ya?”

He squinted his eyes a bit then smiled more so, giving a nod before he turned to her once again. “I wish I could stay…” he almost whispered before he heaved a bit of a sigh. “But, I will see you again Doll, don’t ya worry. You’re ol’ pal Dino’s never far anyway…” 

He lifted his hand and gently pressed his hand, palm flat against her chest, feeling the warmth under it, and he smiled to her brightly. 

“..m’always right here. Ain’t I Doll?” 

And as the sun reached it’s peak over the horizon, he started to fade from her view…
