i talked about the riley family being a super musical family, so I think its only right if I talked about the kinds of music they listen to. just because IM passionate about it, and I wanna.

to be honest, I don't really think simon listens to a whole lot of music. like, I think he gets in his car and drives in silence. BUT....

simon listens to the beatles. im not taking criticisms on this one. he also has a favorite beatle (george harrison). beth's favorite is paul mccartney, and they're both equally annoying about it.

other notable bands include electric light orchestra, elton john, maybe jimi hendrix.... probably listens to queen. I dunno. but generally, that era.

tommys a total punk. he knows so much about so many artists. think siouxsie and the banshees, the cure, sex pistols, the smiths, etc. he listens to a lot of the same music his parents did, partially because he thought it would make his dad like him more (it did not).

he definitely mellows out once he gets with beth, though. he's not really going to concerts after that, and he has to get used to simon's incessant beatle playing in the house. he definitely replaced a lot of his moms old records, and listens to them in their living room from time to time. sings to his unborn son, sometimes, and beth swears it helps. i think tommy has a nice singing voice.

beth, again, a beatles fan. she also listens to instrumentals, loves a good piano solo. but shes also the kind of gal where she'll get in her car and just listen to whatever plays. doesn't like to drive in silence, but definitely doesn't really care what shes listening to. so, i think she listens to like. late 90s-early 2000s pop music. i think she'd like amy winehouse!! knows the lyrics to nearly any song that comes on the radio against her own will, which shocks the life out of her husband and brother-in-law.

I could be wrong about this, but i'm pretty sure Ghost is doing this with his mags! From the photos I found, it looks exactly like what he's doing in the comic covers. Thought it was a nice detail and I wanted to share it :3

i totally think tommy doesn't think gay guys flirt with him. like, he's super touchy with beth when they're out places, especially when shes dressed up, because he wants other people to be aware that, contrary to popular belief, he does have a girlfriend/wife, and would like to keep it that way.

and he doesn't mind pointing anyone in a different direction. guy offering to buy her drinks? he's there, pushing his own glass into her palm and wrapping a hand around her waist. girl getting a bit too chatty for his liking? he's ushering her away, very insistent that he has something very important to show her.

and obviously he knows gay guys are out there - like, its the early 2000s, but they aren't extinct. they're out there, but he seems very adamant that no gay man would ever flirt with him. and they do, obviously, because look at him.

but never has he ever picked up on it. he's a total idiot - he might make a comment like, "nice bloke, wasn't he?" in passing.

beth, however, does notice.

somehow, he never picks up on the correlation between these very nice guys that offer him drinks, and his girlfriend's sour mood afterward. obviously there's something entirely separate going on there.
