The ice cubes clinked against the side of her glass. She sipped her drink through her straw, draining the glass, as her date drained all hope of finding her soulmate that night.

“The puncture wounds on the neck—so bizarre. What kind of maniac would do something like that to another human being?”

“Uh-huh,” Rey agreed morosely, the rum and orange juice slipping down her throat.
