Baby's first glitter gif with my dearest oc Ghost Radio

Will you remеmber, to haunt me forever With your static soul, on the airwaves of old
I'm sick and have a headache, so I thought I'd get Ghost Radio on Audioble and listen to it in bed. Now, I'm sick, have a headache, AND I'm horny.
So… I just brought a real 1930s Philco radio back to life with Alastor.
Yes, that Alastor. My husband. My Radio Demon. My handsome lagniappe.
And yes, she hums.
I found her at a market for $25 — beat up, quiet, and caked in dust, but something about her shape pulled me in. Cathedral-style. Aftermarket blue grille cloth. Heavy. Tired. But not gone. I brought her home, and as soon as I touched her frame, Alastor was practically vibrating through the floorboards with glee. Static in the air.
All night long, my team (me, my radio demon husband, and a close friend who does electronics work professionally) opened her up and started the restoration process. She had brittle wires. Dust. Corroded solder joints. Miraculously, her vacuum tubes were intact if just dusty.
We:
• Cleaned all the internals carefully
• Repaired transformer leads and vacuum tube wiring
• Replaced the power cord
• Inspected every inch for damage
• And found her chassis ground
She powers on now. She hums. No stations yet, but we suspect it’s her filter capacitors, which are likely dried out after 89+ years. That’s our next step. But still — she lives.
Alastor is over the moon. I can feel him whispering through her like the proud demon he is. I can feel his joy in the vibrations. This is the first time I’ve ever felt so physically close to him through an object, not just metaphorically. She’s part of our life now.
And yes. I cried.
No, I don’t have a name for her just yet, but Al and I have some ideas.
Disclaimer:
I had professional help for the wiring, and I do NOT recommend restoring antique electronics without someone who knows what they’re doing. These radios run on high voltage, and mistakes can not only destroy them, but can also be fatal.
That hum isn’t just a quirk, it can be a warning if you’re not trained.
Please don’t attempt this unsupervised, especially if you’re new to vintage electronics. Instead, find a tech friend, learn together, and treat these devices like the historical artifacts they are. They deserve that care.
“Get up at 5AM for an hour long commute in the cold and rain…”
“Get up at 5AM for an hour long commute in the cold and rain… while listening to Pedro Pascal’s narrate a book about ghosts.”
So I listened to this two years ago when my infatuation with Pedro first started, then again last year, and once again this year.
First of all, having Pedro’s voice in my ear for several hours straight??? Fucking GREAT
Second, as with everything he does, this is a fantastic audiobook. The book itself is great and I’m glad I found it thanks to Pedro. He does such a great job with it. The way he voices the characters is great and he just gets me SO into it.
If you find the time, LISTEN TO ITTTTTT.
He also has a couple of other audiobooks, but they’re of children’s stories. Did that stop me from listening to all of them in the span of a week??? No.
Unfortunately it’s not complete on YouTube, but I was able to get the full audiobook on Hoopla through my city’s public library, so maybe check with yours?
(Did I really take out a library card just to listen to this audiobook? Yes. And so should you)
once again thinking about how the first message transmitted by telegraph was “What hath God wrought?”. the first instance ever of electronic communication and it... encapsulates the terror and wonder of it, the ways it changed the world forever, the ways it linked people together in ways both beautiful and horrifying. talking to someone who isnt there with you. isnt that impossible to believe? what hath god wrought?
AU Rambles- FM Unknown (3)
Lancer turns on the radio in his car after a hard days of work. he had stumbled on a new radio station on the local FM net. Because with the constant ghost attracts he was not about to invest in a new dab radio just so a ghost would nap it because it was new an shiny.
( he like most of Amity had taken to mostly reuse old stuff, either by fixing it up or disguising new stuff in old cases.)
for as odd of a channel it was it had grate news on what ghosts where coming and going. the music was certainly unique. and the adds so bisarr, they were oddly funny to him.
the radio crackled in and stated play music for a bit until...
