Sometimes I feel... Bad? about so passionately shipping Sydney and Jedidiah. Because yeah, their relationship is... terrible. And I'm afraid that people are gonna misinterpret me being such a fan of the ship as trying to justify or romanticize an unhealthy situation-- Which I'm not, of course. I ship them because I believe that Jedidiah can redeem himself, that he and Sydney can work things out and become less dependent on each other, and that they can eventually end up with a healthy relationship. (Side note, I will probably cry if they don't work out lol.) Also, they're really cute together at their good points. They make me smile and giggle and bounce around the room and stuff. So yeah.
But I still feel like I'm doing something wrong?? For some reason?? Um. Can you guys just like. Tell me your take on this please because I'm conflicted /nf

jackpot crash course roles analysis. kindof long and bad,
spoilers ahead for chapter 1
very VERYYYY. big fan of how important/emphasized the roles are in this game. to me it connects a lot to how the [tv show] audience views the contestants. the audience only viewing them almost as people playing their parts or just soley as their parts makes it easier for the audience to digest the real death game the contestants have to go through. only viewing eddie as a brutal, harsh character or vick, elise, and bones as the antagonists makes the characters feel 2D, only viewing someone as a trope or one or two personality types makes it harder to have empathy or feel sympathy for them. the last time most of these people will be known or thought of or cared about will be either by their teammates or opponents, who overall care more about making it out than you surviving [probably excluding rook + cecilia. because loyal equestrian and all that. we’ll see what happens in the next chapters] or an audience member who only views you through a lens, only as the title given to you. the way the contestants of bet and forgive view themselves and the roles is very interesting too. sure, they all need to overall do the same thing to survive, but they interpret their roles in different [sometimes similar but usually different] ways. for some characters, it’s effortless for them to fall in line and play their part. rook, for example, seems like she was already a very loyal person before the games. i’m not saying it was as loyal as she is now [in chapter one] but it feels like a role that comes more naturally for her to fulfill than compared to the other characters. i’d say that sailor also fits into this category , he already seemed like quite the dappy goon pregameshow and only had to dappy his goon a little more. there are others that fit into this but these two stand out to me personally. next i’d say is a category where the character is quite like the role given to them, but they do lean into it a little more/remark on it more. vega for example, while he is quite the paranoid cosmetologist and fits her role, she does admit that she’s trying to live up to their role on some level. i might be mischaracterizing here but that’s what fits them best in my mind, even though he fits his role they are putting more effort into playing their part then other characters [ie rook + sailor.] then there are characters like cobyn and poppy, who fit or attempt to fit their roles, but admit that they are good at another role/feel liek they could play another role. poppy isn’t the most pesty in my option to anyone but vega, but still fits her role. she does admit that she thinks she could also be a good paranoid person.
tumblr wants me to put a space ok
one of my personal favorite kinds of characters in this game are characters who “fit” their role from their contestants’ perspectives, but are having to act their role. bones and elise are both characters who heavilyyyyyyy are this type. bones has only been viewed as a “dreamboat” or attractive for a lot of his life. he’s been solely reduced through his career as a sex worker before the game as an attractive person people want to fuck, and only lets himself be that for others. their history is mostly probably him being hot for others or attractive to them, so it makes sense that he’s given the role given to them. i think there’s a lot of potential/depth to his character and while i don’t really care about him i hope the writers add more to his character/the way he views his role and his backstory in the upcoming chapters. elise, the nonsensical jokester, remarks and takes back what they say because it’s too “predictable” for their role and has hinted on the persona they show isn’t exactly how the acted before . while again, the roles are meant to fit the contestant, im choosing to believe that he is very much heavily forcing itself into its role. its kind of hard for me to label? the next category of people but i’ll try. these people seem to have more knowledge and understanding of how the game works, and fit their roles fairly well ish, but don’t fully fit their role yet + i think are going to be developed more throughoutly later. take cecilia for example-while she is quite the maiden she hasn’t been shown to be very heartless yet. i think as her relationship with rook comes more into light and her real personality hidden under her smile and guiding words will be seen more in the game. id say vick also fits into this category kindof on some level, he is a trivial tycoon and has shown how he strategizes and uses others to gain chips, but i think that he’s going to take his role to another level in the next part. lastly of course is eddie. while eddie can lose his temper, which is what got him to where he is in the first place, he wants to be seen as more than a brutal, harsh person. everyone around him is encouraging him and egging him on into being more of a bull and muscle, but he knows that he’s more than that and that he doesn’t want the audience to only see him as that. while he does get the chance to grow more into this role based off the player’s choices, he wants to be seen as more. overall the way the roles are so important in different ways to everyone is very interesting to me and i’m so excited to learn more about this game as the chapters progress but this is prettty much my thoughts rn. sorry if this got a little unorganized it’s late and km tired ok bye turns into smoke
oh cool
go my book ends
guys……
