“Flock of People” by Brazilian new wave, trad goth, and synthpop-inspired (as they say, “ghostwave”) band Deathray Bam! off of 2017 album Blackk Mirror
65. THE DEVIL & THE UNIVERSE. 2022-08-12 @ ASK Erlaa (Wr. Kultursommer)
The Vistas - Ghost Wave (1963)
Listen #free in #Spotify: "Whosdointhetalkin" by Ghost Wave http://ift.tt/2ryWz6Y
11/22/16.
Flying Nun is fully back. They will be releasing the new Bats album next year, and they are in the swing of a slew of new releases - Ghost Wave, and Lawrence Arabia being most notable.
Now they’re going international, with the second release from Vancouver, BC band The Courtneys. While not from New Zealand, their sound does remind one of late 80s / early 90s Flying Nun (Look Blue Go Purple). And I think I’m hearing some early Go Go’s (listen to the chug chug on that bass line).
While there’s only one song on here now, it builds nicely on the songs from their 2013 S/T release.
Song of the Day - Ghost Wave “Whosdointhetalkin”
8/18/16.
Ghost Wave are a New Zealand band (they have a release, “Ages”, that I got through Captured Tracks a few years ago...now I found it here). I’ve always felt that you could tell Ghost Wave was from New Zealand (think of Snapper, crossed with Bailter Space, and then a little Look Blue Go Purple), but they have more shoegaze than most (Pia Fraus is a good starting point).
Right now, it looks like Ghost Wave is available through the Flying Nun US site. Here’s hoping that Captured Tracks or some other US/import labels will be able to get this.
By the way, Sonic Boom is the producer.
