insp by that heart beat ask, but spooning, (pre war) Bucky spooning Steve to check he is still breathing and for body heat ofc. Later (during the war) Bucky spooning Steve to make sure he is still there, also because if Steve wasn't there when he woke up his entire being just felt /off/, and (post ws) Bucky spooning Steve so that when Bucky (he is still getting used to having a name) wakes up from nightmares of cold and alone he is warm and loved. sorry xx

god imagine bucky being in a foxhole or being on watch and having trouble sleeping because steve isn’t at his side (this can be before he knew steve was cap or before he was captured, OR when they were the commandos)
