Hey! Thought I'd hit you up for the epilogue ask: 1996, 2002, 2021 :)
1996: What do you think about the Homework album?
It’s incredible. As soon as “Daftendirekt” starts, you know you’re in for a funky, groovy, and bangin’ experience. It gets political and referential, and it takes you through the gamut of feelings. Superlatively great album—it’s not usually my go-to when people ask which DP album to start with, but it’s as good as any of the others.
2002: Has Daft Punk inspired you creatively?
Yes, I’d say so! In addition to serving as fan-work muses, they got me to Accept My Destiny™ as an electronic music fan. So, when I got into music production, they were always there in the back of my head (in the corner of my heart...), even though I was producing noisy vaporwave and experimental ambient stuff.
On top of that, when I’m writing (or making story/character playlists), I often find myself wondering at some point how DaPu could fit into the soundtrack. XD
2021: How are you “holding on” after the split?
Haha, well... I’m doing better today than I was yesterday. “Epilogue” gave me a lot of solace; it gave me the strong impression that things “ended on a note of love”, as I said in my interpretation post. Still, there’s a reason I put “misinformation about Daft Punk breaking up” in my blacklist—I knew it would be devastating, and it has been.
I’ve only been able to listen to one song from their main discography (that being “Face to Face / Short Circuit (Live)”, and it was a sombre affair. I want to do a full re-listen at some point, but I don’t know when I’ll be strong enough to do that.
Until then, though, I will keep sharing tributes to the bots and showing love. 🤗
