CH 2 : Perhaps a little odd...?
It was just one day after Kirby-Kun’s birth, and almost as yesterday, the skies were very peaceful, but they were cloudy and the sun kept shining though the rain clouds that began to roll in...
Kirby-Kun was all asleep in his oakwood crib (that Masaki built months earlier for Aisha’s son) and Aisha and Masaki were sipping some coffee and having a chat with each other. Masaki had returned home from work early and was very pleased to spend time with his wife at the kitchen table.
Though they’d usually chat about work and stuff, the first thing that came to Aisha’s mind involved something about her son... “Masaki-San,” she asked, taking a sheer sip of her coffee. “What do you think Kirby-Kun will be when he grows up?”
Giggling softly and placing down his mug on the coaster, Masaki answered “Well, that’s a trick question, my dear, but maybe our son’s gonna be a nature photographer like i was once. Remember when we used to live in a remote villige near the east forest during our 20′s and early 30′s, and every weekend we’d step out onto the trail and snap photos of deer, pines, oaks and flowers?”
“Ya, indeed” Aisha answered. “we’d print copies of our photos and sell them at a local art shop for money. The people’s favorite was the pictures we’d take of the deer!”
But thoughts of her son started to grow on Aisha’s mind. “This is some good decaf, and thanks for making it. but i’m checking on my son to see how he’s doing” and left the table to check on Kirby-Kun.
As Aisha walked straght into Kirby’s room the first things to catch her eye were the fine simplicity of this nursery room. She remembered that They both had made this room for him 5 months earlier, with white walls and ceilings, a dark-brown wooden tatami-like floor, a short bookshelf with care products and a big orange-and white sleeping plush hamster named Mr. Round.
But Aisha of course had to check on her son. Kirby had began to make a soft noise of crying as Aisha had looked at him down on his crib’s matress. Aisha said “you wish to fed, kirby-kun, don’t you?” and in fact, Kirby did indeed want to be fed!
Kirby’s crying grew louder, and Aisha rushed to make him a bottle of milk to feed him with at the small short bookshelf with a sink right next to it. “I’m getting it, Kirby-Kun!” Aisha said as she took a small scoop of the milk formula and poured it into the bottle, filled it with cold water fresh from the tap and twisted on the cap, giving it a good shake.
~shake shake shake~ ~uuuuwwaa....”~ “Don’t worry, Kirby-Kun!” Aisha said, and she reached her arms down into the crib to pick up and hold Kirby....
~uuuuwaaaaaaaAAA!!~ As kirby was held in Aisha’s right paw carefully with the milk bottle in her left paw, his cries turned to loud cries and he bent his head over Aisha’s paw, trying to escape from being held.
Aisha felt shocked. “What’s wrong, Kirby-Kun?” she said, as Kirby kept crying loudly in her arms...
~ooogggyyyaaaAAA!!!!”~ Aisha tried moving the bottle towards Kirby’s mouth at least 3 times, but with each attempt Kirby’s little paws would push it away from his mouth, and Aisha could’nt understand why he was so upset.
How was Kirby-Kun going to get fed?
Aisha decided to place Kirby back down in his crib. “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to upset you,” she said, gently placing Kirby-Kun down. but she had an idea....
As Kirby laid down on his back on his crib’s mattress, Aisha placed the bottle into his mouth, and Kirby stopped crying as his little lips took big constant gulps of milk with each sip, his paws and feet sprawled onto the matress.
“Kirby-Kun....” Aisha went to the kitchen to tell her husband of this unusual witness! Masaki was reading a copy of Tanpopo Shinbun/ Dandelion Newspaper when Aisha whispered to him “Masaki-San, come see Kirby-Kun!”
Masaki nodded and they both ran over to see Kirby sip the bottle all by himself.
The two parents looked down from his crib to watch him sip every last drop by himself til’ the bottle was empty. “Well, look at him!” Masaki whispered, “His lips grasp the bottle so well he dosen’t need to hold it with his paws!”
As Kirby finished drinking the bottle of milk, Aisha took it out of his mouth. Aisha felt relieved. “He drank all the contents, a little pig!” she said, smiling as she went to the sink to clean the bottle.
but something didn’t feel too right as Aisha and Masaki both went back to the table to talk with each other... “Masaki-San?” Aisha asked,
“In all the books i’ve read about feeding your baby with a bottle, it says ‘to hold the baby as you feed them’.” Aisha replied, sipping more decaf.
“Ya, honey, but why worry?”
Aisha then agreed, why SHOULD she worry? “Perhaps Kirby-Kun was just tired and needed more rest...”
