Some sort of an interesting fact in the ad industry
It all started with me reading this article: http://www.technologyreview.com/news/516156/a-popular-ad-blocker-also-helps-the-ad-industry/ Turns out that Ghostery, the adblocker - widely used by me and my friends is selling my data (well, not really my data cause I did not enable ghostrank, and it's anonymous anyway - is it really?). Not happy. Let's see. People who matter - for the advertising industry are people with money, people who will buy stuff or services. These people with money have to be online - so mostly western countries, hence the huge difference in price per click in US, UK vs India. Nobody buys things online in India and companies are not really fighting for the online market. Or if they are fighting, they are only willing to go up to a small amount of money per ad. So, thinking of people who matter for the ad industry. I have a theory that says that the more money you have, the less you are willing to compromise. And these people have money. So are they going to care about Ghostery selling data behind their back? tracking them? doing exactly what they are supposed to protect them from? I think that the moment a new service will appear, people will migrate. I know I will. In the meantime, just disable Ghostrank.
