I have a question, where did you get the ideas for The Five Wonders?/are the girls based off of anyone you know irl?

Hi!!!

So the story started from a really simple place. One behind the scenes photo from filming of Deep State:

This photo in fact. And all I could think of was dorky dad merlin with his daughter. And it was super cute, but then my brain nudged the idea a little more...and more...and it became five daughters for Merlin. I knew it had to be all girls because it just made the most amusing narrative. Scary, stoic, Merlin with all these girls who melt him into goo.

But the trick was where did all the kids come from? And I knew I wanted it to be a mix of birth and adopted children. Fun fact this is my only Merlin that I’ve written that is bisexual.

A big key in so many stories is not...downplaying? what Valentine’s plans would do - which meant in this universe Gretchen scarred Audra. That is one of the first things I figured out what happened to the girls during that. And then slowly these little bits of personality all come together.

No OC is ever based on one specific person. There are occasionally little individual quirks - Audra’s second committee member for her Masters is absolutely based on the good dr cox’s second committee member from his masters. But no one OC is wholly a person I know.
