BBC Ghosts | 5x03: Pineapple Day
BBC Ghosts | 5x03: Pineapple Day + bonus:
Can we talk about THIS???
I knew that the Captain (or James I guess??) would have a devastating end but I had no idea it would hit me this hard.
This rod they're both holding is called a swagger stick. They were carried by uniformed officers in WW1 as a symbol of military authority. The Captain has one throughout the series but here we see that it's not actually his but Havers'. They both hold it and each others hands until Havers lets go, giving it to him.
Looking back now, the stick is a symbol of the rank he never had. He died in shame, with stolen medals, surrounded by people who he looked up to but who resented him in turn. Havers though almost gives up his own authority to the Captain in this moment. Now, it makes so much sense why he wouldn't let go of that command when he was a ghost. When he was no longer alive, with no soldiers to command, it stopped representing his authority and became a symbol of Havers. These normal shots of him are so sad now, knowing that it's a possession they've shared.
Giving up that authority, would be like giving up the gift that Havers gave him.
I will need 3-5 business days to recover.
idk what possessed jim to be extra chaotic and odd as pat during this season, but i'm all here for it.
I'm getting kind of sick of how formulaic ghosts US is, like I know it's a sitcom but is it to much for the writers to do something that isn't
Sam does favor for ghost/ghost does something in Sam's name
said thing backfires on Sam
Sam and Jay humiliate themselves to fix it
and why do they keep on introducing new characters, what happened to the other characters in the show? Why aren't they being utilised? Where are the British ghosts? Where's Crash? Where's Stephanie? Why are we seeing less and less of the basement ghosts?
Putting on my delulu hat on for a second:
This all fits extremely well into the grand H-money scheme ✨
Patience probably doesn't know how to take no for an answer so Trevor will need help.
Let's rule out some people first:
1. Stephanie - he wouldn't ask her cause she's both a teenager and already taunting him
2. Flower isn't consistent enough to pull off the scheme
3. Alberta would probably sooner banish herself to the well than do it
4. Bela probably would help but she's alive and Patience may be naive but she isn't stupid
5. Sam is both alive and married (same reasoning as for Bela)
7. Nancy would agree, but would Trevor?
6. I don't think he could pull of gay convincingly enough for Patience lmao so 🤷🏻
So who's left?
That's right, Hetty.
His "power-friend".
I think they'll be power-friending a bit to close to the Sun to make Patience realize he's truly not interested but simultaneously they'll realize something important too...
MAFF?
posts about the captain bc he's my best friend my sweet cheese my goodtime boy.
also, bonus s5 spoilers:
