Anthrax Feat. Buckethead - Kick Ass( John Carpenter's Ghost of Mars Soundtrack 2001)
GHOSTS OF MARS
I actually like this movie.
It's like an amalgam of all the different Carpenterisms. If you're a fan of John Carpenter films then you'll probably pick up on what I'm talking about.
There's elements of "Assault on Precinct 13", "The Thing", "Big Trouble in Little China", "Prince of Darkness", etc. It's an interesting thing to watch this movie.
Plus I like all the ass-kicking in the movie. Ladies kicking ass is always a good thing.
I'll just let you know right now that I don't really do space flicks as much as I used to when I was younger. So, I revisited this one just out of my own personal amusement and I actually enjoyed it much better now than I did when I first saw it a long time ago.
This may be a trying film for others, but I find this one to be very strong from a conceptual point-of-view. It's not a perfect film, but I think it has a lot to offer.
More importantly, I think this movie would be a BADASS VIDEO GAME. I don't think they made this one into a game, but if they did I would totally play it. This movie could totally be a video game. I'm talking' Halo level. Gears of War type of stuff (although I haven't really played that one yet).
I like the music in this one, too. It's like all the different eras of Carpenter put into one movie (with exception of the big band/jazz stuff he has put into his fake commercials/radio ads in his movies; he typically composes the music in his films, sometimes alongside other musicians, or in his band, The Coupe De Villes).
Check this one out if you're into John Carpenter's stuff or if you're into super-sci-fi.. It's like regular sci-fi..but super.
Sci-Fi/Horror vibes for sure. I'll give this one a 6.1 out of 10 stars.

John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars Is a Criminally Underrated B-Movie
John Carpenter has films that are considered classics: Halloween, The Thing, They Live, Big Trouble in Little China. But the films he made after his heyday don’t get nearly enough love. One big example: Ghosts of Mars, which takes The Thing and mushes it into Assault on Precinct 13, except with way more graphic… Read more…
